Thursday's inky black heart is warmed by the wonderful relationship growing between the wizard and the scribe... Which will end horribly.

Let's watch, shall we?

So many people/creatures. Such horrible fates.

"Look at the hourglass". My how time flies when you're ... learning magic?

Goodness, look at the hourglass! Where did all the sand go? Sand passes so quickly.

Ah, the hounds were dragons - and we saw a flying dragon shape behind Torg a mere fortnight ago.

Also, this peaceful scene is sad, because I just realized that the girl had antlers on her pendant, and the woman held prisoner in the book had antlers. She killed herself rather than be controlled by a demon again.

Hey now, I recognize those three dudes. Nice.
And the bench looks like Grammercy and certain doorways?

Dig the little spider in the first panel.

Its cool the contrast here between 'Scribe' (mellow, obedient, shy, flees danger) and Allie who traded words with The Bug.

With all due respect, may I suggest a small revision to the speech balloon in panel 7? "Your way with a pen knows no equal", or something like that, or perhaps a format change to ensure "pen" is before a line break.

On a first read my eyes slipped, understood a different thing and was momentarily shocked until I went back and read more carefully. What has been seen...

First time seeing Pen Island? I don't think it's necessary to change anything. Regardless, space is clearly visible anyway.

Anise, Basil, and Coriander look an awful lot like riddle-bearing door guardians in these forms.

I'm sensing a bit of tension in the teacher-pupil relationship. I wonder if they'll sit down and talk it out and come to a peaceful agreement on their mutual needs, or if one will end up cursed into a book inhabited by an inter-dimensional primal being and the ancient king of all mankind.

Okay, not so much wondering as looking forward to see how that plays out. And to learn her name, how she knows Chaz, and did anyone leave a snack behind for poor Kiki trapped in a cave in Italy??

And now I've only just noticed the guardians of the cave of Yffi always had one, two, and three horns in order of their doors.. that's a detail old enough to buy alcohol

Yffi and Scribe travelled to Greece? I mean, they met somewhere on the island of Great Britain, right?

Is there an "Isle of Teeth"? All the search hits for that name look like fiction.

So Coriander is the first gate, Basil is the second and Anise is the third. I wonder whether the reverse order is significant.

Thank you for understanding that. I couldn't figure out what Shtupid was talking about. And no, there is no need to change anything. It clearly says "pen", space, "is", and that's that.

To all masters of magic: remember to keep your students restless and desperate for more power. That always ends well.

They also remind me of the logo for the Clagger Inn (where the Gang is hiding out in the present day).
