This explanation seems wanting to me. The spell of binding/unbinding should be useful for removing itself just as it was used to add itself. Unless, by permanently, K'Z'K means removed so that it cannot be restored to the book again. If that's the case, it seems like they were never truly successful in doing what K'Z'K wanted, because Gwynn has already shown that the removed pages can be restored to the book. The protection circles may have been a stop gap measure, because they couldn't actually do what he wanted. Still, as per Quint, the scroll of binding can be destroyed. Seems to me like that would have been a better plan than just removing pages without the spell for removing them.

I've imagined a laugh track after much of the dialogue on this subchapter

I'm just happy knowing that the bug is jealous of Cappy Botanical. Or at least, perceives him as a threat. What a petty little bug. LEARN TO MAKE FRIENDS! The Good guys always win over the bad guy thanks to the power of friendship! Or love. Or whatever other corny device.
You'd think that with all this time in isolation he would have learned those lessons from Netflix by now.

So, K'Z'K seems to have evaded the question. That he wanted the spell of binding and unbinding out was already established: it can be used to undo the book, but the bug still refuse to address why it can't be used to simply remove spells and page from the book instead of reaping them off like they are doing.
The "permanently" seems to indicate that with the spell of binding and unbinding, a connection still remains, but it is still unclear.

Of course the bug perceives Captain Botanical as a threat. Cappy Bo eliminates magic. Without magic, K'Z'K is fully at the mercy of the fate web.

I think Schlock established that without magic, the fate Web isn't able to act on you anymore. Apparently, the fate Web was put in place to help guide the beings of a Spark and make things safer by keeping them out of sudden destruction. It plays on altering probabilities, if I do not have that wrong. Magic is actually using the probabilities control power of the web in way it wasn't intended to. https://archives.sluggy.com/book.php?ch ... 2018-05-21Kind of like going to a dam someone else build and hijacking some of the water it retains to feed your personal electric generator.

I have to say that this is one of the most intriguing and unique entries in the magic vs. science debate I have seen.
