Anyone who knows cases in Latin know what it's saying? I think it said "dismiss me," but not sure if "monstrum" applies to itself or referring to the people it's speaking to.

I think she's saying "let go of me, monster" but I am not that good at english let alone latin.

This is a real page turner. I hope Riff will shout "book her!" when they defeat the literary horror.

Google Translate thinks it’s something like Forgive Me.

When I ran it through Google Translate, it detected Latin and translated it to And let me tell.

Not a spec, but just an observation: Queen Siphaniana did not speak Latin in Mohkadun.

I believe it is, "I doubt you can scatter/dismiss me, monster," but I have no idea what the "et" ("and") is doing in front of it since that is a conjunction. I'm pretty sure that "dimittas" is 2nd person singular subjunctive active of "dimitto," to send forth/dismiss/send in different ways.

...Did she just call Bun-Bun "Monster"? :bunbun:

My hunch is telling me she's saying "You're underestimating me, Monster!"

You mean Rather Nice (the worst that could exist in the DoL).

I believe so...

Playing around with the translators, I find that putting "Let go of me" in, gets "Et dimittas me" out. Given that if Pete were to use a translator, he's more likely to go English to Latin (rather than the other way around); so I think Kajin is right, that's the translation - or at least the one that is meant. And she says that after Bun-Bun goes in for the...? kill? So perhaps rather than slashing at her, as you might think, Bun-Bun is going for the unravel... Is that spec? Or merely a stab at translation?

No, that was the Book of Ro'thar-Niece.

If you put "release me" into the translator, it puts out "dimitte me". So my guess is she says something along the line of "Release me, monster". I tried with "unhand me", but the translator doesn't like that. Since Poopypants is big on the whole "release" thing (ropuyk or whatever) it seems plausible she would go for a release. Dunno. Let me check my notes.

Or, you could listen to someone who has studied and reads Latin, but whatever.

I don't think anyone here wanted to offend you. Being able to understand Latin without a translator is a pretty cool skill imho. But it's pretty clear Pete is *not* someone who studied Latin, which is also why there is an "et" in there you can't explain. We're trying to figure out what Pete wanted her to say, which is why we're taking the route Pete would (pobably) have chosen.

Of course swmartian (and by extension Kajin) is right. Don't know why I even bothered trying anything else, must have overread your answers. We all know Google translate is wonky, the Latin used here doesn't *really* make sense and it's a 1:1 match with what is said in the strip.
