Zoe is rocking her cursed tattoo at the same time as wearing the accursed HC shirt. She is wrapped in the skin of her conquests.
Goodbye HC. You were such a great villain.

Wow, HC has been around for 19 years. Finally defeated. I can understand why Zoe looks so relieved.
It's good to have a few strips of rests that we can see how the characters reconsider their situation. I expect the fight against the A.I. to be epic...

Zoë's family still thinks she's dead, right?
Yeah, I can see why she'd be so happy.

I love Torg's reactions in this strip.
They (and we) haven't had a place to rest in the story for a long time. Everyone needs time to take a breath and process. Zoe's smile is so warm.
I find it interesting that Torg had to be "out of the picture" in a way for the former hC employees to be allowed to work. I'm not sure that he would have let them, but Zoe is right, most of them are just people (who have just lost their jobs and are in a dangerous situation).
(Sidenote: Zillatain's opening post made me smile)

Yeah, I can see why she'd be so happy. No, they know she is alive. She was reunited with them and then ended up escaping out of a back window. And then when she found out how dangerous HC was, she was angry at Torg for letting her tell her family that she was still alive. I don't think she has talked to them since then. So she still has a reason to be happy. I'm lazy or I would provide you a link.

(Sidenote: Zillatain's opening post made me smile) Yes, but keep in mind that in order for them to have willingly joined Hereti Corp in the first place, they had to have been of questionable morals at best. Their armed personnel have harmed innocents directly and their R&D branch created means and methods utilized to do the same. They may be in the same boat for now, but Torg has every reason to be wary of them. Frankly, it buggers me that Torg doesn't harbor more intense hatred for them as is.

I fully expect her to run away through a window again next time she sees them. For normal annoying family reasons, I hope!

Holy Moley... I never noticed that Hereti-Corp billboard at Times Square before, and I've reread that sequence quite a few times since hC became a Big Bad. Panel 4 needs more habanero.

Has Zoë's face always been shaped like that? She looks like Twilight Sparkle today. It's weird.
I wish I could focus on the big things that have been happening more. I remember when less than all this would have had me on the edge of my seat all the time. But it's been years since I read the entire archives or anything like that.

Heh. Panel 5: Did anyone else get the impression that Pete was talking directly to us through Zoë there? :-)

It turns out Pete is not only the author of Sluggy Freelance, he's also the nerdiest fan of Sluggy Freelance :P Excuse me while I update a certain Oasis thread in SRC with corrected information...

Well, here is Zoë from roughly ten years ago and twenty years ago for comparison. :) swmartian wrote: Heh.
