The two salesmen are left to their own devices, and Piper confirms that she could feel no magic in or around their wares, and no blessing could have evaded her. Talen, on the other hand, is willing to make a small contribution of local currency towards party funds; said contribution consisting of the (former) contents of Mark and Marque's coin purses. (Neither of said salesmen seems to have the slightest idea who picked their pockets). Talen feels that a vial of a previously unknown spice is worth substantially more than a dubious map, and feels that this contribution made the trade a good deal more fair; he did, after all, leave them the spice.

Unfortunately, there are not many rumours of magical items. You're able to make a few trade deals here and there on the way for food to be delivered to the Colony; but the only other tradesmen that you spot trade on the severely practical level of pots and pans, and know nothing concrete about magic items (most of them point to the rumours of a giant city having appeared overnight in the middle of Fangorn Forest as the most likely nearby source of magic - if you have the courage to risk meeting the inhabitants).
