Edit: 20+ year reread complete! So much fun to revisit Sluggy. And wow, [REDACTED] was [SPOILER] all along! Who'd have thunk it? Thanks for an awesome comic, Pete, and thanks also to everybody who helped and is still helping with this redesign. I hope in some small way these posts of mine have done some good, although no amount of bug reports or Defenders money can repay what Sluggy means to me after being a faithful reader for 17 years. Growing up with it. Man. And I'm still reading. Defender to the end.

Nothing else to say, I guess, but good luck, and thanks again.

Hi Captain,

I'm interested in becoming a DotN (new style) but I don't do credit cards.

I used to be able to pay using PayPal. Is there going to be an option for this or something similar in the future?

It's pretty awkward that when you do a mouse over on the [+] signs in the news that your cursor turns into the vertical text bar cursor. You're practically saying that it's not clickable/expandable.

I'd change that.

Yeah it's supposed to have a black outline on that text. Most of the comics in that arc with text that was not black was supposed to be the same. Here's the original for this one:

I knew I remembered what was written there. And it's nifty that we can still access the originals for everything.

I hope Pete gets ahold of all the work Malice has done; I know he's not supposed to read this forum. I'm sure it would help him out a ton!

After a while, I must say now --
I hate how the bar at the top has my number of pawnz and bookmarks always displayed in that little bubble.

It looks like I'm always missing a notification, and enrages me that I can't 'clear' it.

Was something done recently (a week or three ago, I've been traveling) to speed up the forum access? It seems snappier now. If so, good job, I like it! If not, just tell me you did it anyway and accept the kudos.

Probably fewer people accidentally downloading 50mb of comics at once. So the server in general is being spared.

Only new thing about the forums is the advertisement integration :/

Every time I login to respond to something on the forum, it redirects me to my profile page.

Nobody ever really needs to go to their profile page. Do they? I suggest redirect us to the page we were just on when we login.

The comic for September 9th, 2016 has part of the next comic at the bottom.

I go there all the time. Not to see my profile, mind you, but to go to a specific chapter and avoid using that horrible Archives thing.

At the top of your profile, there is a line of 70 green rectangles. Each one represents a chapter.

Thanks for pointing that out! I'd never have discovered it.

I don't really use the Bookmarks, but there is a problem, to me at least, how they work. You go to your bookmark, read some more, then re-bookmark it...but it won't let you. It won't even give you the option to have it removed from the previous location and used in another. So you have to go back tothe thing, deselect it, then go back to where you were and use it.

It would be nice if you were to click on the bookmark button and it shows you your available bookmarks and the in use ones. If the in use ones were maybe greyed-out with maybe even the date they are being used at on top of that. So you know it is in use somewhere, but if you want, you could still use it, which would erase the old location and put it on the new.

So you only use it to bypass other poor design aspects? Hmmm.
The plot thickens.

Also, I never would have noticed those green chapter thingies either. If I mouse over them, they should popup an image of the chapter or something to make this more obvious. This website design seems to have a number of cool ideas (like this one), but poorly implemented. I hope you guys are working on Sluggy v2.1 with all this.... You've got so many great design fixes in the forums. For free.

One thing regarding archive navigation that I miss about the old, awful nested drop-down menus, is that I can't see a way to go directly to a specific sub-chapter. It seems like once you select a chapter, you're stuck starting at the beginning rather than then choosing which subchapter you want.

This isn't a problem that comes up a lot, but when it does...oh man. I was scrolling up and down a chapter for ages the other day just looking for where a certain storyline began.
