Arkady is driving the unarmed truck carrying most of the supplies (with Piper, who can apparently teleport, sitting in the cab). I got the impression the technical is in the front; if not, then Arkady should probably be having this discussion with the guard instead of Felix.

Nate would not be opposed to camping outside the city with the technical and any weapons you decide to not bring with you. He's not very good at diplomacy anyway, unless its of the gunship variety.

He'll probably spend the time rigging the grenade launcher for use as a mortar.... just in case.

Seems like an idea. We drop the big guns into the wheeled mayhem and Nate keeps an eye on it, perhaps talking with the locals outside the city proper if any such exist. Maybe find a safe place to hunker down or otherwise stash the goods with royalists loyal to the Queen, should any exist. Information from Sir Ulath would help with that. I imagine we'd have gotten some information from him about notable people to talk to over the past five days.

Meanwhile Arkady and Felix go inside with holdout pistols and stun guns. Maybe a stun rod or baseball bat for melee weapons. There they'll discuss diplomatic matters with the Regent.

Bring some flashbangs and CS grenades as well. They aren't technicaly dangerious weapons after all...

That might work; besides, Arkady wouldn't be happy carrying guns around when the only monsters are people. He'd do it at need, but it's not his thing.

Btw; over the last few days he has been acting the role as a priest; praying on occasion, offering mass once (even if it's only for himself, he's obliged to take communion once a week), consecrating some water (and edible oil, if any can be found along the way).

If you're looking for a place to leave dangerous weapons, outside the city, where you can be pretty sure they won't get stolen, Sir Ulath can recommend a place.

Piper is absent when Arkady offers mass. It looks like a coincidence, but...

More specifically: Sir Sparhawk, who you met earlier, was a Pandion Knight. (Sir Ulath is a Genidian Knight; the two orders work well together). The Pandion Knights maintain a small but well-fortified chapterhouse just outside the city. The Knights themselves have their knightly honour and would be offended at the very idea of stooping to theft, and if they're protecting something in their chapterhouse, you'd need either a suicidal master thief or a small army to even consider taking it.

In there, you can also chat with some of the other Pandions, if you like.

Mind you, we don't know what Sir Ulath may have mentioned about the local political situation over the last five days.

I would imagine Sir Ulath is still with the group, since no mention was made of his departure anywhere. Same for the Baron and his group. I've just been assuming they're declining to talk for some reason.

Also Felix and Nate have been questioning Sirs Ulath and Bevier on local politics on and off ever since they arrived at the ship with the rest of their part, so they'd already have at least some small grasp of local politics. Any conversation over the past few days would be limited to talk of potential allies, and not too overtly so as not to sour the Baron's already low opinions of the group. Or at least those are the talks Felix would have had with him, anyway.

That being said, questioning him and the other Knights further wouldn't hurt. Having Nate away from prying eyes would serve us well on that front.

Not much that wasn't already covered. Queen's been poisoned, there's no actual proof but the top theory is that the local Primate is somehow involved - he's certainly controlling the country by being the power behind the throne of the weak-willed Regent. If the Queen recovers, and can identify her poisoner, the Primate and his faction are likely to have a life expectancy of "how fast can you run?" If she doesn't, and no actual proof of involvement is found, then the Primate gets to keep control of the country pretty much indefinitely.

And here we are doing our best to suck up to the Regent so he'll grant us township status and leave us in relative peace. All the while plotting with the royalists behind his back to use our Terran medical tech to save the Queen's life, ousting him from power along with the Primate who is controlling him from the shadows.

So many potential political landmines. So little time.

...I'm not sure I've mentioned this, but "Primate" is a title roughly equivalent to "Bishop".

I thought he was equivalent to Pope.

Technically the Primate is the religious head of the nation, though subordinate to the head of the religion. In Catholic terms, they'd be Bishops or (more commonly) Archbishops; and usually also a Cardinal.

On this new world the RCC dispensed with Cardinals for the nonce; a new Pontiff will be chosen by all of the bishops assembled once things get far enough along (it was assumed within a month or two of them all waking or being determined unwakeable). The possibility was also allowed for that the bishops assembled would decided to hold off on such a choice for a while, if the situation seemed to demand it. Needless to say control from Rome was ruled out.
