Appropos of Libertycon 2011...
(1) I told my son "We can harass Pete in Chattanooga again next year." He said, "Whoa!" loudly. (2) Pete, look forward to harassment :)

Pete that looks like your art on the Pale Jimmy label, is it?
PS. Wasn't Rachel Abrams born just a couple of years ago? No? Internet time, curse your deception!

Yes, Bassem, my wife Rachel looks deceptively young! My daughter Sarah just turned 3! ;) And no that was not my art on the Pale Jimmy beer label. Good stuff, that!

The taller human female in the picture is named Leah (10 earth years old). This might help

I'm gonna get flamed for this I know...
While I massively sympathise with Pete's friends, I have to inject a small moan. Most of us pay for insurance and it ain't cheap. But if the worst happens, at least we don't have to rely on having a friend who writes the best webcomic on the net and can ask the readers for help.
Just my thoughts...
*ducks and covers*

It seems like just yesterday she became the Official Web Comic Baby. BTW, My shiny new niece (ok not really shiny, more like wrinkly and pink) is also called Sarah.

Possum Attack: I wouldn’t worry about being flamed, we don’t do too much of that in this section of the forums (and I haven’t ventured out to any other sections).
I think the problem here is two different issues. One issue is about responsibility. Should my friends have had renters insurance? Should I be responsible to support them? Should the government be responsible through my tax dollars to support them? <Monty Python Voice> WHO’S TO BLAME FOR THIS?!? </Monty Python Voice> All this is debatable background noise. And for my two cents in that noise, I have homeowners insurance and I have my doubts whether or not it will really be there for me if I should financially need it. And I don’t think it would make it all better if I lost every keepsake I had, and lost my pets to a fire.
The other issue is not debatable. If a friend suffers a tragedy I am there for them whatever they need, how ever I can help.
Bassem: no worries! Shiny wrinkly pink babies are nifty especially when they're someone else's! ;) I just remembered a true story! A friend of mine came by to visit my family in the hospital when Sarah was born 3ish years ago. I asked her if she wanted to hold the baby. She said "oh no. I'm not going to be the first one to drop the baby." I was like "FIRST one?" I suddenly pictured her whole family tree riddled with brain damage. I will have to use that in a strip some day.

And with Sluggy being 13 years old, it's sobering to realize that we're basically only on Year 6 (halfway...ish) as far as TP go. Curse the circumstances that led to a 5-year hiatus from printing.. Regardless, as Larfleeze would say... "I want one of those! MINE!"
