Back in the good old days (circa 1965), before most of your parents started dating, there were comments made about us programmers.

One of the most famous of these was found nailed to the back of a tape reader (you know, those 1/2 inch reel tapes that held 30 MB of data). To whit:

The Bug

What does it matter?
they said with a shrug
the customer's happy,
what's one little bug?

But he was determined,
the others went home.
He spread out the programs,
deserted, alone.

In the morning his punch cards
had littered the floor,
then printouts and coredumps,
and later much more.

I've got it, at last,
its simple deduction,
its easy, you see,
just change one instruction.

The days turned to weeks,
and then into years,
and people would mutter,
is that nut still here?

He died at his console,
from hunger and thirst,
they buried him next day
face down, nine edge first.

His only reward,
an ant crawling by,
saluted his tombstone
and whispered, "nice try".

additional contributions welcome.
