If Stephen Miller actually gets around to denaturalizing US citizens and abolishing birthright citizenship, my husband and I might be stripped of our passports. Of course, he would fall over laughing when all his old Trumpist first generation immigrant relatives are stripped of their citizenship too.
It's looking more and more like the Senate is going to roll over and approve the most kakistocratic appointments. Yeah, approving these people is going to threaten their safety and bribe stream, but not as much as defying Trump would.
I've spent the last five years watching plenty of ostensibly powerful lobbyists and corporate interests take the L and submit to some idiotic government policy that would hurt their bottom lines, because the consequences of not doing so would be worse. And they are always worse when the guy who controls the regulatory state would use it to punish his enemies.

Well, they stopped one. Granted it's the one the billionaires and corporations who own them most objected to , but it's one.
Though I suspect you're largely right on most of the others.

We have a Secretary of Defense nominee who's promised that if confirmed, he'll be a dry drunk. Definitely Trump material.

Alcoholism is the least of this guy's problems, he's also a credibly accused rapist and the kind of omnidirectional bigot who seems to think US military might depends on ridding the armed forces of anyone not a swole white male.
You know it's bad when Ron DeSantis is being floated as the sane alternative.

I'm not sure a war criminal is a step up, but it's certainly a Republican thing to do. And remember, the SecDef has to purge non-traitors from the general officer corps; so there are certain requirements any candidate has to meet.

I'm sure that getting rid of the FDIC will be popular with some of the criminal scum of the GOP: but I suspect that before he gets there, someone will remind Trump that the Secret Service agents don't have offshore accounts; and a run on the bank would wipe them out. That would make his odds of not dying violently rather worse.

Ok, if you had 'Trump triggers a Christmas government shutdown because Musk wants one' on your 2024 Bingo card, you may actually get to fill that in. Also the 'Trump admits he can't govern and has no real power, and that if the Democrats won't raise the debt limit then he's incapable of it' space. My word...

Apparently Trump is already a lame duck. Even his own circle is mostly ignoring him unless he's immediately useful; and he's too out of it to really stop them and try to take charge. Though to be fair: unless New York remands him, he's already got what he wanted; he'll die in the White House (or whatever facility his children lock him up in when the rest of him mind goes) instead of in prison.

That isn't exactly comforting, his circle is full of psychopaths. They're going to spend the next 4 years fighting viciously over which of their appalling visions will be implemented, which doesn't mean they'll cancel each other out and do nothing. The horrors won't be less horrifying for their incoherence.
Even if they spend the entire 4 years pointlessly bickering, the Supreme Court is poised to wipe out all manner of civil rights and economic regulation. And they'll become even further entrenched if Sotomayor kicks it.

I think it's way more likely that Thomas kicks it in the next 4 years. Which is a (tiny) silver lining.

So now we've seen a dangerous career criminal, who was released on his own recognizance, sentenced to time served. Funny that I've never noted the official 'rich, white parasite' sentence conversion chart in state law: I guess it must be one of the oral traditions.
8 days until things get interesting. Eh, maybe Panama will nuke the inauguration.
