Does anyone else find cults as entertaining as me? I know most people hate cliches, but I love them for their humor.

My current favorite: The Raelians

I believe they state that God said that there is no god.
Their leader is especially charismatic, no?

i like that the messege part of the page. the first paragraphs are

WHAT HAPPENED?

On the 13th of December 1973, French journalist Rael was contacted by a visitor from another planet, and asked to establish an Embassy to welcome these people back to Earth.

The extra-terrestrial human being was a little over four feet tall, had long dark hair, almond shaped eyes, olive skin, and exuded harmony and humor. Rael recently described him by saying quite simply, "If he were to walk down a street in Japan, he would not even be noticed." In other words, they look like us, and we look like them. In fact, we were created "in their image" as explained in the Bible.

This sounds a lot like what we used to do to tourists as little kids.

I just met a guy who's considering joining a cult. Except it's not a religeous one, it's the kind where you give them all your money and they 'maximise your life experience'.

I'm D&Ding with him, and when he talks about it so openly and enthusiastically I really want to laugh, but he seems so keen. Poor thing!

Hey now, I'm in one of those. There is nothing funny about life maximising non-religious cults!!!
at least, not if they actually improve your life to a degree that has it have more value then the money you spent.

Of course, I usually refer to the course I took as a 'course', since it fits the definition better. I've yet to actually find a definition of 'cult' that fits this.

Huh..

So Rael is basically a run of the mill secular humanist with very Christian values. Except, he's a brilliant philosopher.

Mmhmm.
