Elsewhere on the interblag I postulated that Anchorman is solidly in the top three most quotable movies of all time. Am I wrong? What else would you put in that trifecta?

Anchorman is indeed quotable.

However, Office Space gets more play among my friends.

Also, a few REALLY BAD movies come to mind -there's this 80s "scary" movie that Vincent Price was in (I can't find the title right now). It had some short tales of "terror" - a guy who is attacked by a demon cat, a guy who fathers a dead woman's baby, a creepy carnival run by a voodoo priestess, some guys out in a swamp doin' black magic, some cannibal children-of-the-corn-eque kids during the civil war. All of them were lovely in their own way, but this movie just drips with hilarious quotables. From the undead baby holding out its little puppet arms croaking "DAAADDDYEEEE" to the voodoo priestess laughing maniacally while she bellows "I OWN YOUR TEARS!" to the children chanting "Meat! Meat!", this is a go-to movie for quotables.

Meanwhile, between my siblings we quote extensively from notable crapfest Little Bigfoot. Take a look at the trailer, and you'll get a clue why.

I assume that every group or family has this movie - the movie that stands out as extra quotable, even if it isn't in the top three.

The Princess Bride? Monty Python and the Holy Grail? Ok, maybe that's just here on sluggy.net!

I was going to mention those two as well because I am always quoting them, but you would be amazed at how many people have not seen either one.

Maybe I just don't hang out with the right people. I don't think of either Office Space or Princess Bride as especially quotable. Huh!

One of the problems with a quotability factor is that the people around you have to get the references or (by my personal definition) it's not quotable. So Not Another Teen Movie has massive quotability potential but I think The Girly Man of DOOM! and I are the only two people in America who saw it.

"But...She has GLASSES!!!"

I think it's the only movie in the "Movie" brand of satires worth watching, insp.

Filthy lies. It's the only movie of that satirical string that I will watch multiple times.

Also, Finding Nemo was always being thrown around at my high school.

Office Space was really good, but I only saw it once. I think it got overshadowed by Idiocracy. Also, the first Shrek is pretty freaking hilarious. Much funnier than Monsters Inc in the "quotable" sense. But then, Pixar and Dreamworks are pretty different studios.

Oddly, even though she only played it once, my wife sometimes makes references to Starcraft unit comments.

We also occasionally use a few bits from El Dorado, Shrek, and Toy Story.

The Princess Bride is a gimme - usually a quote regarding the word inconceivable.

Monty Python, occasionally.

Certain quotes from the Alien series - "Game over man, game over", for instance.

There are a few game quotes that have worked into my repetoire - "XXXX has appeared. It's a killer. Do not die." for anything appropriate (it's from Catherine boss fights). For example "Angry girlfriend has appeared. It's a killer. Do not die."

Gollum impressions still occur occasionally, though that's been less so in recent years (with a brief resurgence recently).

Star Wars remains extremely quotable (mainly in references to the Force), though that's more than just one film.

I have never seen Anchorman, Office Space, The Princess Bride, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Not Another Teen Movie, or the Alien series, so I can't comment on whether they are more quotable than Star Wars or not.

No I wouldn't. I used to be amazed at one time, but then I've met the people.

Home Improvement is quite quoteable, when doing any do it yourself projects.
