Has anyone else been invited to this new competitor to Facebook? I just got my invite and I'm wondering what you think of it and if there are any Sluggite circles out there.

I was invited by my sister, but so far it's a pretty empty space. I'm not sure many of my friends will hop over any time soon, unless Google creates a way to transfer up to 6 years worth of photos/detritus from FB to Google+ with ease. Seriously, one of the biggest uses my family/friends get out of Facebook is sharing and commenting on photos, even the ones that were posted years ago.

Being able to transfer contacts would be nice too.

Considering how big of a flop Google Wave ended up being, I'm not going to get excited about Google+. Wave was a much more interesting concept after all, and nothing came of it.

Don't you mean Google Buzz? In any event, I have a copy but it seems complicated

Wave was a thing of its own. I had a couple of meetings with Wave... I enjoyed it, but I can see why it didn't take the world by storm.
Google+ has better chances of catching on, but it'll be tough to build up the momentum of Facebook. No matter how nice the interface of a social network page is (and I'm not incredibly impressed with Google's), the utility comes from the users. It's a a sort of Catch-22... in order to get users, you have to have users...

I'm on, and have a Sluggy circle. Twitter has been annoying me lately -- I don't have a smartphone, and I don't feel like going to twitter.com all the time, and now that Twitter's cracked down on outsiders making facebook add-ons, I'm having a hard time keeping up.
tl;dr Google+ *may* replace Twitter for me, YMMV

I'm on there. Not having all the photos and contacts from 6 years of Facebook was a big selling point for me!

I'm gave to give this new thing a chance.

I never got into Facebook, and now that I'm learning about all the predatory information mining Facebook is doing I'm skeptical about anything similar to it. Google has almost as bad a respect for privacy track record as Mark Zuckerberg.
And now Facebook is cross-referencing me with half the other websites I post at. No Facebook! Go away!
At what point should we, as a society, start checking ourselves for embedded microchips? I don't know, but I bet the answer lies within a Facebook/Google collaboration.

Privacy is highly overrated.
But then, so is novelty.

I've found Google+ to be a nice step away from Facebook. I have a limited number of people in my circles and I can see what content I want, rather than what content they want me to see (Facebook's hidden filtering algorithm annoys me).

I think the jury is still out on google+ - obviously they are still working on it, so I'm holding judgement out to see what happens. I'm liking it so far, and it's gotten a great deal more penetration than buzz or wave ever did. BUT if you want to use both, and port your facebook photos and such to g+, go here: http://startgoogleplus.com/it also has an add-on that will let you xpost to facebook from g+, which i like. If anyone wants to find me, I'm at http://nancydorsner.com/plus
