Is it "us"? Apparently not, but it looks like there is a dwindling number of competitors. Goats seems to be down for the count, and out of the handful of older comics wikipedia directed me to, only Slow Wave and Kevin & Kell still look to be truckin' on...

Help Desk started in '96 and is still running.

Goats and Help Desk aren't / weren't daily, so there's a greater volume of strips in Sluggy than them. I thought User Friendly might be a contender, but it turns out Sluggy started a few months earlier than it.

According to the website, Kevin and Kell started in 1995. It's probably the only comic in existence that out does Sluggy in terms of number of strips.

UF just went through about 5 months of repeats and fillers as well. Illiad had a health issue and just re-ran comics from the archives.

Manually created strips. Mezzacotta has at least 2^32 = 4294967296 strips. Most of them are pretty bad, of course.
