Every so often someone makes a post that is so awesome that it inspires another to post a response praising it. As an example I submit this: Surgoshan wrote: Llefser wrote: Kea wrote: Forgive me for not getting this, but.... cotton....? The papermill owners also did not cotton to people using hemp. Nice. Very nice. Post any comment you feel deserves an honorable mention!!

I heartily endorse this board initiative, and think that it should be in Important Threads. Of course, there it might get lost, I dunno...

I think it's a great idea as well. But I would leave it here, better traffic. But I do give you permission to go advertise this (ie post a link back to this thread) in WGARS & SRC so that those posters who hang more in the other forums get into the act as well.

Additional term: No "your mother" flavour remarks... no matter how entirely appropriate they might be sometimes.

Princess Bride refferences automatically count in the awesome catagory. FreakyBoy wrote: Duke Leto wrote: Inconceivable! You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Grillick wrote: You mean flogging isn't an acceptable punishment for breach of contract? What kind of a nonsensical country are you running over there? Surgo made a good one in the RIP David Carradine thread. I added Micah's for context. micah wrote: I heard rumor that it was murder made to look like accidental suicide. Real info is sketchy, and the police investigation should be illuminating in the coming weeks.
RIP, David Carradine. Surgoshan wrote: Hmm... was Uma Thurman in Bangkok on Wednesday? Another honorable mention just because it made me laugh. I am, after all, a father of two daughters. Skitzophrenik wrote: Pandora is the perfect thing to name a daughter. Its a subtle threat from a father that only intelligent young men will pick up on. "If you open my daughter's box, you will unleash everything bad (me) into your world."

Thanks Chaos. I have been considering that "poke around in" would be better than "open" but it would be less mythologicaly accurate, and also more crude. I'm glad I didn't change it, because perhaps I wouldn't have gotten the mention.

This, I believe, counts as an awesome, but still mostly polite, verbal smackdown. Chris wrote: Zeevico wrote: Why on earth is sluggy still alive? There's a point at which you need to end things and move on from one story to the next. Sluggy reached that point eons ago. Why is it still running? You actually have that power: simply delete the bookmark from your browser. Hey presto, Sluggy no longer exists! Oh, but to answer your question, it's because other people are allowed to have a different opinion to you.

This is from a topic that almost makes me wish I could comment in POOP again....... OldCrow wrote: ...I honestly can't tell whether you agree with me or not. Your premise suggests that you don't, but your example suggests that you do. Could you clarify your position? I hate it when I can't figure out if I'm arguing with you or not. I just loved this. Had I been drinking I am sure it woulda come out my nose. Too funny even tho I doubt that is how it was intended. It very much counts as an awesome comment.

The original statement was baconbotsforever wrote: Lets face it, Mr Spock would have been a major drag at parties. To which the reply was Mr. President wrote: Spock goes to party in drag? To which I say Well Done Sir!

Kea wrote: Mr. President wrote: My science fiction isn't speculative. It's fiction about modern day scientists. It's absolutely horrible. This comment is awesome. You win Teh Internets. It is so awesome that even though you posted it weeks ago, I still cracked up when I read it for the second time. I have to say that I've read Prez's science fiction and it is pretty bad. Certainly it isn't as good as his FanFic. His Tesla stuff is fantastic, though that Anthony Bourdain/Andrew Zimmerman Fic he wrote was probably the best thing I've ever read written in the English Language.

Two in a row? I'm honored. But I have to go with this: Skitzophrenik wrote: I have to say that I've read Prez's science fiction and it is pretty bad. Certainly it isn't as good as his FanFic. It's too long to quote here, but Goatlord42's essay-reaction to the 5th's comic is pretty awesome.
