I thought it might be nice to track what we've learned so far this chapter about characters/other sluggyverse elements in a single post for convenience. Happy to incorporate other information/corrections! Follow up posts may contain more background on topics mentioned here, as well as speculation about how the different pieces are connected.

Dunuloa/Moon Twin:
She is stuck literally on the moon, and is unable to access the Fate Web - or magic, maybe, although she can walk around on the moon's surface just fine. Revenge on Farahn for Kron's death is more important to her than keeping Poopy-pants/the destroyer bound, and she doesn't care much for mortals. She can communicate with and instruct/command Basphomy, and possibly others.

Rana/Sun Twin (I guess):
Literally in/on the sun or is the sun. In her conversation with Dunuloa, it is mentioned that "we" (presumably gods/immortals generally) choose what to remember, and Rana seems to have chosen to forget the death of her family members. Likes mortals.

Farahn
Although long ago, when he was the king of Mokhadun, he was possessed by the destroyer and then bound within a scroll, now he and the bug are both bound within The Book of E-Ville or a part of it, with Farahn apparently in control. He believes Gwynn is the reincarnation of his once favorite wife Siphania, with whom Gwynn soul-swapped for a while. Farahn is currently depicted as a metallic man-shaped thing with little face except for a diamond; such a figure has been seen before (e.g. in The Bug, the Witch, and The Robot) and has seemed to aid Gwynn against the bug. He talks with the bug, and it manipulates him; it also seems that Farahn can control whether the bug bound within the book can mess with Gwynn. In a dire situation Gwynn made a deal with Farahn/The Book which gave her power but gave Farahn/The Book power over her; only now has this become an issue (see Gwynn's entry for details). Seems to like his current position of power and have accepted that his freedom would liberate the bug and therefore the destroyer. His current aim is for Gwynn to join him in his prison.

At the time of this writing, he may be about to call on an 'old flame' associated with a runic B.

Gwynn
In the German Orsintos lab, Gwynn made some kind of deal with The Book of E-Ville/Farahn that gave him power over her in exchange for more magical power. After defeating Captain Botanical, she was able to use it to create a magic-free field around her, which prevented The Book/Farahn from influencing her. When she went to space she left the domain of fate/magic, destroying Cappy Bo permanently while also entering an area where The Book could not go. Then she traveled to the Anima dimension; upon her return she is vulnerable to The Book/Farahn, and currently mostly under Farahn's control. She is resisting - somehow she learned about a page that once was in the book but now is not (that of binding/unbinding), and seeks to recover it to destroy Farahn/The Book's power (and therefore her own magic) in order to escape his control. This has led her to the ruins of an Italian village near Vesuvius (northeast of Pompeii); after its town center collapsed into a sinkhole, it was buried by an eruption.

That Which Redeems portrayed an alternate universe Gwynn who had apparently completely succumbed to that dimension's Book.

The Book of E-Ville
Farahn largely controls it, and has worked to get some pages added and some removed. While it contains the original scroll that imprisons Farahn along with the bug, the current book contains much more; we don't know it's true origin, but we do know that it was found in Riff's attic. The bug and Farahn 'worked hard to remove' a page known as the page of binding and unbinding, which is what Gwynn is now seeking. Farahn thinks he controls The Book, but was surprised to find that The Book, or something/someone else bound within it, was helping Gwynn resist his power.

Chilus
Held captive by Wilcott, using magical circles of power. Lots of hinting but little concrete info in https://archives.sluggy.com/book.php?ch ... 2020-11-12 .

Torg
Officially engaged to Zoe. Lied to Riff about Sam's involvement with local deaths.

Zoe
Officially engaged to Torg.

Lacey
Reported with N'aaaw that they has seen Gwynn with Aylee and The Book of E-Ville; unclear who their target was or why they were doing surveillance.

N'aaaw
Reported with Lacey that they has seen Gwynn with Aylee and The Book of E-Ville; unclear who their target was or why they were doing surveillance.

To do: Sam, Bashphomy, Mr. Stiks, Tombsy, Wilcott/Riff's dad, Vampire War

To-do: possible connections between the involved elements.

==Other relevant background==

A brief history of Gwynn, the destroyer, and The Book of E-Ville.

While the first strip of Sluggy was about summoning a demon, it was also about the potential uses of this newfangled 'Internet': summoning a demon. We had to wait weeks for them to summon one using an actual book, by which time we had already met two Mokhadunian gods! It looks like this book is The Book of E-Ville; by the time a summoning occurs the "Tome of E-Ville" (labeled "Book -o- Evil") has appeared. At this point, no one has mentioned where the book came from.

Later, Gwynn gains magic powers, which turn out to come from the same book (which we haven't seen since then), which Riff was throwing out. Gwynn astutely notes that "It doesn't grant powers to just anyone. [...] It never granted them to Riff." Gwynn starts a spell to do terrible things to Riff (her ex at this point) but it gets interrupted by Berk (a time traveler from a doomed future in which K'Z'K, the destroyer, had destroyed the world) trying to kill her (to prevent this doomed future, unbeknownst to anyone from the present) and Riff stopping Berk. The consequences of this interruption could involve terrible things for the world, so she tries to finish it without The Book, which is in Berk's possession. This results in K'Z'K taking complete possession of her. After a few entertaining weeks of strips, Torg accidentally uses The Book to release K'Z'K (who by the terms of his summoning had been under some obligation to the summoner Gwynn, although it's not clear exactly what). Riff attempts to use a device Berk brought with him from the future to pause K'Z'K in time, but instead sends the destroyer into another time (it turns out that it is a few centuries in the past, and also maybe in Europe). Gwynn's soul went with it, leaving her in a coma.

Riff and Torg plot to travel to the year 2000 using a time machine based on the technology obtained from Berk to ensure that the Y2K bug has not impacted beer distribution, but like with K'Z'K things go awry and Torg and Zoe (who joined in) end up lost in time (a few centuries in the past in Europe - later we would learn the accidentally followed the trail left by K'Z'K). Riff is still in the present and ultimately will be responsible for bringing them back after location Dr. Schlock, who traveled back from the future in which K'Z'K took over the world.

The Stormbreaker Saga, which details their adventures, is great, but only touches on the destroyer and The Book a couple times. Not long after Torg and Zoe arrive, we see the undead raised by K'Z'K (deadels) to spy and maraud.

The Mercian queen (?) Valerie mentions that the The Book of E-Ville used to be in her family for generations, until it was recently stolen by their foes the Trents. The Trent king Sighard attempts to use The Book to banish K'Z'K but cannot because he can't read it; K'Z'K seizes it and from then on its whereabouts are unknown until it shows up in Riff's possession (possibly uncovered by Riff's father, Wilcott). It appears at this point that the non-time-traveling version of K'Z'K that will later possess Gwynn is still bound in this version of The Book (which does not travel in time that we know of), while the rampaging K'Z'K is the version that was sent back in time after being freed from The Book and possessing Gwynn.

To be continued...

Well we learned that you can bend Chaz, apparently. Surprising given https://archives.sluggy.com/book.php?ch ... 2014-05-05. It has been a long time since then, Chaz is not powered up now, and Chaz was exposed to the magic-free void of space in the meantime, but still, it is surprising.
