I thought it might be nice to track what we've learned so far this chapter about characters/other sluggyverse elements in a single post for convenience. Happy to incorporate other information/corrections! Follow up posts may contain more background on topics mentioned here, as well as speculation about how the different pieces are connected.
Dunuloa/Moon Twin:
She is stuck literally on the moon, and is unable to access the Fate Web - or magic, maybe, although she can walk around on the moon's surface just fine. Revenge on
Farahn for Kron's death is more important to her than keeping
Poopy-pants/the destroyer bound, and she doesn't care much for mortals. She can communicate with and instruct/command
Basphomy, and possibly others.
Rana/Sun Twin (I guess):
Literally in/on the sun or is the sun. In her conversation with
Dunuloa, it is mentioned that "we" (presumably gods/immortals generally) choose what to remember, and Rana seems to have chosen to forget the death of her family members. Likes mortals.
FarahnAlthough long ago, when he was the king of Mokhadun, he was possessed by
the destroyer and then bound within a scroll, now he and
the bug are both bound within
The Book of E-Ville or a part of it, with Farahn apparently in control. He believes
Gwynn is the reincarnation of his once favorite wife
Siphania, with whom Gwynn soul-swapped for a while.
Farahn is currently depicted as a metallic man-shaped thing with little face except for a diamond; such a figure has been seen before (e.g. in The Bug, the Witch, and The Robot) and has seemed to aid Gwynn against the bug. He talks with the bug, and it manipulates him; it also seems that Farahn can control whether the bug bound within the book can mess with Gwynn. In a dire situation Gwynn made a deal with Farahn/The Book which gave her power but gave Farahn/The Book power over her; only now has this become an issue (see
Gwynn's entry for details). Seems to like his current position of power and have accepted that his freedom would liberate the bug and therefore the destroyer. His current aim is for Gwynn to join him in his prison.
At the time of this writing, he may be about to call on an 'old flame' associated with a runic B.
GwynnIn the German Orsintos lab, Gwynn made some kind of deal with
The Book of E-Ville/Farahn that gave him power over her in exchange for more magical power. After defeating Captain Botanical, she was able to use it to create a magic-free field around her, which prevented The Book/Farahn from influencing her. When she went to space she left the domain of fate/magic, destroying Cappy Bo permanently while also entering an area where The Book could not go. Then she traveled to the Anima dimension; upon her return she is vulnerable to The Book/Farahn, and currently mostly under Farahn's control. She is resisting - somehow she learned about a page that once was in the book but now is not (that of binding/unbinding), and seeks to recover it to destroy Farahn/The Book's power (and therefore her own magic) in order to escape his control. This has led her to the ruins of an Italian village near Vesuvius (northeast of Pompeii); after its town center collapsed into a sinkhole, it was buried by an eruption.
That Which Redeems portrayed an alternate universe Gwynn who had apparently completely succumbed to that dimension's Book.
The Book of E-VilleFarahn largely controls it, and has worked to get some pages added and some removed. While it contains the original scroll that imprisons Farahn along with
the bug, the current book contains much more; we don't know it's true origin, but we do know that it was found in
Riff's attic. The bug and Farahn 'worked hard to remove' a page known as the page of binding and unbinding, which is what Gwynn is now seeking. Farahn thinks he controls The Book, but was surprised to find that The Book, or something/someone else bound within it, was helping Gwynn resist his power.
