So today we learn that it was Symachus who summoned Kozoaku the first time also.
The plot thickens.

I guess this would have been more of a "wow" revelation if we didn't have the last chapter ending with a Riffington family member being revealed to work for the current main villain.
Did this happen before? :riff:

Yes, a punch to the gut isn't so bad after a hammer to the head.

My money is on Will as the current incarnation of Symachus.

I bet for Nash Straw / Reynold Strom (remember his unnerving tendency to smile while covering his face with his hat...)

Definitely another way it could go. If it's not one of them I'll eat my hat.

Well it would go some way to explaining why Nash thinks he's "The end" here: http://www.sluggy.com/comics/archives/daily/20090520

And it would also explain why the fate spiders want to keep Nash away from the K'Z'K cult.

I think the current incarnation of Symachus is Symachus.

There's not much indication that they have to change form. Granted, there's some difference between Krig and Kringle, but Uncle Time looks pretty much the same as the pet shop owner.

And Nash wasn't referring to himself as 'the end' there, more calling attention to the fact that Erin died with her eyes open. Died seeing, basically, but what she saw wasn't the point.

I don't think Nash/Strom/Whatever-he's-calling-himself-these-days is Symachus. Aside from the smile (and that's possibly a deilberate red herring, much like Will donning an outfit with an eerie resemblance to the Straw Man's, and holy crap I just noticed that Will and Qaboos already have Kozoaku's lockbox in that first comic), there's really not much to connect them. And their personalities are too different; the Straw Man is amoral and mercenary, but not really the sort who would want to see the world burn (in fact, he's just as willing to do beneficial things for the right price, as seen near the end of 4U the City arc). Clearly the apparent absence of Symachus in the modern day (as opposed to rest of the pantheon) is important, but the exact nature of is current whereabouts are sure to be a surprise.
