So, we know that Mokhadun is doomed in the timeline as it stands (though with time travel what it is, that's not guaranteed stable). And Gwynn is right there.

Who thinks that they're going to swap Siphania back right when Gwynn would be about to do something effective vs K'Z'K, thereby causing Mokhadun's demise and preserving the timeline? Actually forming a self-consistent loop would almost be a first in Sluggy history (not absolutely - the first time machine strips were of the self-consistent variety).

I think in this case it could work dramatically to set up Gwynn to face K'Z'K in the present.

I'm wondering if for some reason Gwynn's presence is required to unleash K'Z'K.

Well... there is the possibility that K'Z'K is defeated, since according to Riff's father, she was the 34th wife of King Fargone .. and she corrected it.

I don't really see the relevance of that fact... could you explain it?

If they switch back, it means there is a king after Gwynn leaves. If there is a king with 34 wives, there is likely to be a Kingdom.

And, it's a different king that it is now.

With the exact same story repeated again with the new king? Same names of the cheating wife and hero?
Maybe a bit unlikely...
