October 19, 2012, panel 5, Laû Pang is walking in the direction of an arrow with (what I assume are) mandarin characters on it. Anyone know what the arrow says?

2012 Oct 19 panel 5 (x3):
退 = tuì = withdraw ; retreat

It's kind of convoluted/tedious way of doing it, but it is fun...for me. I don't speak or read or write Mandarin.

Just wanted to let you know that I haven't quit, but I'm running into problems with the resolution of the comic. The last panel on the 19th, I've figured out most of the characters, but there is one I that I have yet to figure out the various strokes it is composed of. Zooming only works so many miracles.

I will tell you that so far I have deduced that the message is referring to "lunch break" or something similar.

Don't worry I'll keep plugging away at it when I can, or I may go and try and figure out some of the other Chinese that needs translated. Or someone else could come along and figure it out.

Depending how long this plot arc lasts, maybe we should actually hire someone as a Spec-Forum Translator. :)

1.) My Chinese was never that good to begin with and it is now very rusty but I will do my best. I will be using a dictionary to help me. My apologies for any errors.

OK, "Closet" makes sense - that arrow points in the direction of Pang, and he was coming from the direction of the Janitorial Closet where the Squid-on-a-Stick or Squid-Spear was stored. But "Maintain Spores"?? I'm not getting that? Anyone else get it?

Mutagen virus/spores?

My guess is that Pete was trying to say "Storeroom for spores"

Panel 6, second line (if I am reading it correctly): Presenting our move from ... (The Chinese is unnecessarily convoluted and Pete uses a traditional character in place of a simplified one - mainland China uses the simplified script)
Panel 6, line 8 (partially blocked): In the near future ...
Panel 6 line 10 is a repeat of line 2.

Maybe this will make more sense.

保持细胞

Not really, I double-checked:
保持 means "to maintain, keep or hold" but as in to "maintain speed", "keep alert" or "hold position"
细胞 can mean "cells" but only in the biological sense (e.g. red blood cell); that is why I chose the word "spores"

To use 保持细胞 for "holding cell" as in a place to keep prisoners rather than the act of maintaining spores/cells or a place where cells/spores are maintained is incorrect use; I had trouble with the translation for that reason.
