Judging by Gwynn's look in Panels 6 & 7, whoever the 'test subject' is was not willing.

Poor Torg. He is torn apart by Riff's torment.

And yes, I was wondering about the bandage as well, thinking maybe Torg had done something in his sleep when Gwynn invaded his dream. But then I realized it was due to the "test subject". It's probably a paper cut.

Torg reminds me of those scientists and entrepreneurs who try the untested, experimental antidotes and devices on themselves due to desperation.

My pop culture references are certainly out of date but I'm pretty sure that's the origin story of several spiderman villains. Y'all can add to the pile, if you like.

As a reminder, Gwynn DID spend a large part of the year destroying the connections to the moon goddess. Personally, I wouldn't fault her for not spending 100% of every waking hour focused on just Riff, as she's also been making progress on him, too. I doubt Torg would agree with me, though.


I don't know his origin story. Just evil red Nazi. Was he ever a good guy? 'cause that'd be an awful big jump. I was thinking more like Doc Connors turning himself into a violent alligator. Or Doc Octavius getting upset that they pulled the plug on his world-saving research... or something along those lines. I can't follow modern MCU madness, but as far as I know, those two were good guys that got desperate and had their brains altered and lashed back at society. Sympathetic villains that could be pulled back to reality. There's probably a trope for that.

Oh, if they have to start out good, then definitely not. I suppose Norman Osborn would qualify, though; he seemed like an okay-ish guy before the crazy serum.

Yup! So I guess it's settled, then. Torg will become the next Spiderman villain! I'mma spec that his origin story involves being bitten by a radio active Ozzid-Kiki hybrid because he was dressed up as a giant Cannoli as part of this Riff/Crystal ball arc.

And I posted it in reactions and not spec forum. Tee hee. I'm so naughty! Perhaps Ozzid-Kiki gave me a little nibble, too...
