I'm confident that Gwynn would recognize that for what it was. That being, a commonly used idiomatic expression to express sympathy over her hardships and in need of support. And me offering it to her, in the form of inflicting misery to Torg.

As for you, however, you're the one who ultimately decided to interpret that as calling her a non-human thing. "poor thing" is such a common expression that you'd have to go well out of your way to interpret it that way, let alone write it out for all to read.
