The last strip of the year is a Thursday. For 2021, there was an average of about one strip every 3 days, and an average close to 10 strips per month. Wonder how close Pete will get to a "perfect" strip upload of 2.5 days and 12 a month in 2022... ---- Vote for Sluggy Freelance at Top Web Comics. Please remember to vote before 2021 is over.

And this is how it start. At least Pete won't have to draw the story from the user's side, this time.

Nicely done with Gwynn's old insecurity -- notice how she takes her glasses off and holds them out of sight when interacting with Riff, only to put them back on when not near him?
Also ... 'The Bug, the Witch, and the Robot'. Is Riff's idea to make big nanobots the origin story of the Mark I???

This idea of the big nanobots was something used by Schlock during his "Schlock triangle" plan to locate Oasis. I seem to remember Schlock tasking Shankraft with creating big nanobots. EDIT: I believe this is the project https://archives.sluggy.com/book.php?chapter=62#2011-01-19 . I think it was later revealed that Schlock had Shankraft build larger nanobots in order to master the "upscaling" of the DFA to a DFA cannon.

I utterly abhor the idea of throwing a unique ancient book in a dumpster to be destroyed!

Gwynn looks nicer and more innocent here. Was she ever? At least she must be less ambiguously into Riff.

Interesting...the Bug, frozen on a pillar with the infinity sign. And of course he actually IS a pillar.

That's something Pete was always pretty consistent about with Gwynn. Matches up perfectly with how she behaved in those early strips.

Yeah that was impressive, I was nearly convinced they were bits from earlier strips like yesterday's comic, even the humor fits. If I hadn't recently dove into those very chapters looking for the non-existent moment Gwynn officially acquired the Book of E-Ville, I would've been fooled!

And the obvious moral of this story is: take the damn trash out yourself, don't make your girlfriend do it

This one is necessary for the story line, but I think Pete is missing a trick here. He could easily go back to M-W-F comics by simply replacing one panel of selected dailies from The Bug, The Witch, and the Robot (I seem to remember the Sundays from the comic at that time being all DOP, but I have no time right now to dive into either the archives or my copy of BWR).
