I think it's great! And it moves the plot AND is funny!

I second that. I really like Gwynn's boss' moodswings.

That said, Pete is definitely evil for developing secondary plots while leaving us uncertain about the whereabouts of Torg and Aylee.

Comic rxn:

Duurr....

Gwurble?

Naysayers: There's only so much you can do in four panels a day. The niftiness is there, just as strong as ever. Pete however has gotten *craftier* and sneakier about it. Net result is more overall niftiness spanning more time.

If anything, this comic reminds me of the one where DOL Bun-Bun appears in the Dimension of Nifty in the middle of Pig Stye for the Gay Guy. At first there's no explanation, so we're all like, "Whurt da freg?" Much like today.

This of course transmogified into TWR over the following eight months. Seriously, are you going to complain about that? Say it's not comparable to say, Vampires? The Quatrix? No, it ain't comparable at all -- Pete's been working his plotificus maximus off all these years, and the resulting niftiness / storyline quotient is correspondingly higher. So, have patience, faith, and good will for all! Smell the nifty!

This random rant brought to you by three days with no sleep. Lif long and napster!

I'd have though Jane would look better with Gwynn's monkeys.

I'd like to second Sluggsworth's assessment.
Trust in the nifty. You won't be disappointed.

Look, I was going to launch into a rant about how disappointed I am in sluggy these days, but it's probably unjustified and Pete doesn't really deserve it. It's a great comic, I just think it's not as good as it once was. It's a totally subjective opinion, and I'm sure others disagree. There it is.

I don't entirely disagree, but I think it's not so clear-cut. The day-to-day comics that have little to do with overarching plot are not as good, but the big stories are better. That's the way I see it.

sheesh, some people are never happy. If Pete didn't do something like this, and then we later saw Gwynn doing whatever it is she's going to do, everyone would be all: "Hey, didn't she have monkeys when we last saw her running away? what happened to her monkeys?"

If you want an internally consistent story, some strips like this are inevitable.

Besides, "doodie-fling" (is that a sound effect?) plus the look on poor Jane's face did strike me as funny.

It took me a while to figure out why Gwynn was running, but I finally got it.

I liked this strip. It kept suspense going and let us know that at least one memeber of the house was keeping her head down. I wounder what Bun Bun is doing?
