Yeah yeah yeah, so I'm breaking one of my own rules to do this, but at least six of you seem to want it, so here it is. The official reactions thread for the new forums.

All features of the new design are open to change, and all change is open to bribery in the form of alcohol. Please feel free to contact me regarding the details of getting the alcohol to us. We accept all major forms of alcohol except everclear.

Before you post about a particular issue, please take the time to read this announcement. It just may answer your question/request before you ask it ;)

And, being the moderators of this forum, all such bribes must be tested by either myself or CS. We will then assure you, depending on if it is of high enough quality and proof, of how long it will take to process your request. Thank you.

Okay, I poured some scotch into the keyboard to get it to you but instead my computer got drunk off of it. I must apologize for this... fortunately I am able to stay upstairs using my friend's computer while my computer goes on a drunken rampage downstairs... *crash* Damn, there goes the Entertainment Center...

The forums are nice, though the colors are... um... bland? The new icon sizes are convienant, and I like the fact the URLs are the same size as normal text (which was annoying in the past linking a past comic for making a point and having tiny sized text). Only real problem is I seem completely unable to activate an avatar, but that's probably something I'm doing wrong, I did try doing it soon after giving the keyboard that alcohol bribe for you guys...

That's probably a good thing. If they were too vivid, they'd just be distracting. Better to have a nice, calm unobtrusive colour scheme that doesn't get in the way.

Well one, last time I checked D_D wasn't old enough to partake in these bribes. [It's more like guidelines than actual rules - DD]

Secondly, I rather like the forums. They be pretty and earthy and stuff.

It's just so .... brown. The colors blend into each other too much. The old 'orange' for new posts gets lost. Of course, that looks brown too. So far I've seen a couple links that I didn't know were links, because they had no underline, were dark brown, and blended in with the standard text. Tweaking link colors, and the 'new post' color would help.

I had no problem with the old color scheme.

Safari always seemed to have a problem marking unread threads as read on the old forums. I haven't tried it with the new forums yet. I'll do an edit on this post later when I've checked it out.

Hmm... A call for alcohol was put out. Will rubbing alcohol do?

I'm just glad the new forums are up. I was worried when Sunday's strip went up and there were no forums. Nowhere to react, nowhere to spec, nowhere to gloat (my gut instinct on Horribus and the Demon King (Horb gone, DK not) was correct, even if all the details were wrong). I had to post my comments on my blog. Nice work getting the new forums up so quickly, guys.

Ooo, do tell! Embarresing mod stories are always good for blackmail. I mean. entertainment. Thats what I said.

And oh my, I've been modded. I'm not sure if thats ever really happened before in my notice. It's certainly the first time it's happened on the new boards.

Well, I don't mind the colors so much. And I like that you can change your av and color scheme on the same page. Hopefully, this time around, the colors won't reset to default when you change your profile.

But. I really dislike the ads we've got here. At the top of the page like that, they really disrupt the flow of the forums for me. Maybe they could run down the side, or at the bottom. Or get rid of them altogether. Why do we have ads, anyway? We didn't on the php boards. What changed?

I like the layout of the new forums, but is there any way to get the alternate themes back. I personally really like the smartDark theme, and, while this theme isn't bad, it's not exactly my favorite.

EDIT: And if I'm just missing something, please let me know.

From what I've heard, we're still missing a few things here; the most noticable one is alternate color schemes. Thyla's working on it though, and we'll have them in a few days.

I'll tell you something I (kinda) do miss, is the 'Tool Bar'

That big thing off to the Left on every screen in phpNuke? It had instant acces to word search, fan art, sluggy stats, back to the forum in general, as well as customizable features, such as changing the COLOR!
