Personally I liked it because it is random. Remember this comic began on weekly throw away plots and became something greater...and stuff.

Seeing a loved one's head served on a platter usually isn't funny (if you can't think of at least one instance where it is funny, you ain't thinking hard enough), but mistaking food for a loved one's head is funny, and hardly ever happens, except for maybe some instances with fruits and vegetables, and Tofu sculptures.
