I think the Bug has not been kind to Riff in the past year. Chin up Riff, with the Destroyer pillar of reality trapped, the universe never ends so you'll only have to put up with the torture for eternity.

Asking bullies nicely never works, Gwynn. Skip to plan C.

Okay, I'm still really confused. Assuming that Fred-as-a-kid scene actually happened with the mushroom hag, how would Riff know about it? Was he trapped in the woods with Fred? I find it hard to believe this wouldn't have come up in multiple decades of friendship -- especially given their constant exposure to the paranormal.
It's also odd that kicky-poo suddenly knows how to do this to his roommate who's supposed to be the one in power here.

Maybe he retained what he learned/used from the book of eVille? I was never one to try to track poopypants’s powers and such. My wee little noggin can only follow so many threads in the tapestry at a time.
Either way, he’s doing it, so I guess he can!

Seems like a very bad idea to ask the Bug not to torment Riff. Gwynn interacting with him at all is not good, but showing weakness, showing that his torment is having the desired effect, asking please mr. überdemon would you be nice for once, ... Bad idea.

TBH, this feels like when The Doctor gives the villain a chance -- one chance -- to stop doing the bad stuff, before unleashing Time Lord badassery on said villain.

Well, Riff was also host to a piece of the bug until very recently, inherited from his father. That could be a factor as well. https://archives.sluggy.com/book.php?ch ... 2014-04-08

Gwynn definitely thinks she has the upper hand here. Whether or not she actually does remains to be seen of course.
