We *did* see Smiley re-animate in the alley .... so what's going on? My guesses are spec so I'll just wait and see.
I do think that if Gwynn survives this, it's going to be because of Kiki's well-timed note, though!

Wow. Gwynn's eyes aren't the only thing that's gotten dark around here.
Hopefully she doesn't abandon her friends because of this, since... she really needs them.
When she says she can't come back from this, I wonder whether she's talking about her fundamental humanity, or her relationship with Dunuloa (which, frankly, she hasn't managed well).

Man, I really hope there's a reward at the end of the rainbow for this gang. They deserve it. I meant "come back to being a decent person", or "avoid the wrath of Dunuloa" (who I presume is still alive). Kind of like how Hayden Christensen took one terrible-but-understandable action in a fit of emotion, and then decided his life was over and had to join the dark side (though of course Pete is a much better writer than that).
