Well, Pete gave names to all the students who were possessed (with the possible exception of Reno and Cearra, although by now I'm sure they are too). So if they don't have names, they're free to go! :-D

I meant the door to the room that contained the Hand of Fate. I did forget about the skeleton key, although the comic doesn't show her using it.

I actually forgot about the skeleton key. I thought she swiped the key from the Ferryman before running away. Considering how she got the invitation in the first place it would have been perfectly in character.


It does show her using it on the door to the basement immediately before that room. Showing her unlocking 2 doors in a row would have been too redundant for comic purposes. While not entirely logical (there are plenty of acceptable excuses), it wouldn't have changed anything unless the slight delay caused her to get caught instead, which obviously wasn't the direction the story was intended to go.

BTW, I went to TopWebComics a couple of hours ago for my daily vote for Sluggy Freelance, and my laptop got infected with a virus. I will not be voting for a while, until I can visit the site on a public PC and make sure it is safe.

1. Just to clarify (since the first part of your post was directed at Pete), Pete has never asked us to vote at TopWebcomics. It's probably barely on his radar (and only because Zill provides the link). Voting is strictly a grassroots effort.

2. You might want to invest in antivirus software that also protects you while browsing (e.g., Bitdefender's Traffic Light). [I think it's worth the peace of mind, but nothing can promise to keep you 100.00% safe 100.00% of the time]

3. While I certainly won't disagree with your plan not to revisit the suspected site until you've had a chance to double-check its safety, consider what other sites you visited that might have infected you. Traffic Light didn't stop me from going to TopWebcomics, and I checked the link with two other link scanners (e.g., Google's Safe Browsing), and TopWebcomics was designated as safe. Of course, it could have been a temporary infection that was cleaned up between your visit and mine. <shrug>

I'm not registered at TopWebComics, so it always has a test to prove I'm human: matching a webcomic character to one of three names. The other day there was a black screen with a "click here" to prove you are human. I foolishly ignored the red flags and clicked on the box, thinking that they were just changing the test. Then I started to get bombarded with fake Macafee alerts saying someone was downloading my files and to click again. I rebooted but the fake Macafee alerts were still there, so I shut the laptop off and phoned a techie.



The laptop has antivirus software. But I clicked where I should have known better not to.



Thanks! I phoned a techie right away and he fixed it. And thanks for checking TopWebComics. I went to a public PC on Thursday and it was okay. On Friday I used the laptop again, with no problem.

What a weird experience. Nope, that is not normal.


I assumed you had antivirus software, I meant the additional layer that stops the computer from connecting to infected or evil links (or rather, should stop it).


I'm glad to hear it was a relatively minor infection that you were able to clear up!! I wanted to triple check for myself and others. I'd already voted (which meant Traffic Light had let me through), but I wanted to use other checks to be certain. May just have been bad timing. :-P
