Friday knows exactly how Meander can get over her tragic backstory. Therapy will not even be required.

She needs to embrace being possessed again. It would simplify so many things. Can't have to wallow in an existential crisis, if you just let the demon take the reins...

How did Meander figure out Brielle was possessed? Were the clues there or are we in for a Pete explanation in a forthcoming strip?

I was wondering that too. Maybe Brielle's comment where she also mentioned Oceanus and all the greek mythology stuff showed she knew too much? This was on the strip from July 15th.

Very not surprised about the possession, but how did she know?

Let this be a lesson kids. Someone asks you to do a favor for them and then they betray you. This is why demons never do nice things.

If I had to guess, I'd say... [spec]

That was really good. I figured Brielle would be a demon, since she seemed so nice. And then they'd be betrayed by her. Instead Pete surprises us by yes, she is possessed, but the problem is solved right away. What a writer.

I wouldn't say "solved". Temporarily diverted perhaps.

I guess Meander thinks losing her backpack is an adequate sacrifice for getting Brielle out of the room. Hope the gambit was worth it, but now they're still stuck in the room, minus books on demons, and the Gang is unable to intervene!

Meander has a book with her. Not sure why that one was her choice, but I think she knew exactly what she was doing -- and yeah, I want to know how she was tipped off... not to mention how they're going to keep her in there.

I'm wondering more why they closed Brielle *in*, and went *out* themselves. Brielle is clearly on the inside of the room, while they go outside? Look at the latch, which is inside, and the room number on the outside, both visible in the strip of July 12th. Plus, the door is swinging inward, which was also visible in the mentioned strip.

After all, Stevie should still be roaming out there, right?

Yes, hotel rooms aren't usually set up like prison cells. Can they lock her in?

The only incongruous thing I've noticed about Brielle is that she's supposed to be a shy nerd but she wears showy "look at me I'm so cool" glasses – but I don't quite see how that would indicate possession.

I’m always a bit distrustful of strangers or people I just met that say “I’m so sorry you went through that” and want to hug me or others.

Like, who are you and why are you pretending to care about me so much? Seems so disingenuous, lol.

Obviously must be demons!! :gwynn:

In the fifth panel, there is a tear running down Brielle's cheek. I wonder if she knows she has been possessed and has time to shed a tear of sadness/frustration/regret/etc, before the demon inside her takes over. It's a bit heartbreaking.

I am also wondering what clues Meander has to tell that Brielle has been possessed. hmmm. I am sure it will be revealed to us by Meander in due time.

As for why they left...well, they can't just stay stuck in the room forever. SOMETHING needs to get done and for that, they need to leave the room. Meander and Karen are taking their chances with Stevie, and trying to outrun Brielle, in the hopes of doing whatever it is Meander hopes to do.
I wonder what is in the attic? Or if that was a red herring for Brielle.

If I was the Ferryman I wouldn't be targeting tertiary victims like Brielle. Meander is obviously a much higher-value target (as a past host for Chilus) and a big threat to the operation.
