I have to admit I have no idea how this is going to be resolved.
Way to bring the drama, Pete.

Too bad that on Feb. 14, when Gwynn freed Kira and promised her power if she'd help her friends, she forgot to identify who her friends were (or maybe she didn't have enough time).

There goes the Book of Uhglee out of Riff's grasp as he gets pulled away.

Well, she said "help my friends stop the ritual". Even if she doesn't know who Gwynn's friends are she should know the goal is to stop the ritual. But Kira usually has her own agenda in mind, so...

I wondered why the final panel featured the envoy in what appears to be a sinister light (I mean, I know it's sinister for all the regular folk, but this seems to indicate a further divergence from the assumptions expressed in the prior panel).

EXACTLY! Lady Tomb was running the ritual, and planning to sacrifice Chilius' demons. Chilius NOW has the book, and said "Time to end this ritual". She didn't say she was going to finish it. I doubt she would want to kill her demons. I don't know what the original plan was, but don't you just have to chant Poopy-Pants' name to free him? Not sure why all of this extra ritual stuff was needed. Seems like something more was at play. I am NOT happy with how it is all going. BUT.....Zoe is around to destroy PoopyPants once again.

I don't know; Chilus looked like she was hiding something from the demon crowd when the fight first started. Remember how she didn't want them to try to get out of the bleachers (likely so they wouldn't realize they were trapped)?
