Thursday is sad. Aylee not being possessed, puts a major dampener on its happiness. She won't be able to backstab the gang at the most opportune moment now. ---------- Vote for Sluggy Freelance at Top Web Comics. Please remember to vote every day until the world ends.

It's always nice to be able to add "tricked a supernatural being literally built for deception" to one's resume.

I'd say it's a slightly anticlimatic development, but I recognise that it's in character for Torg to conclude something was wrong with Aylee for dropping the ball so hard. My spec actually used to be that it was Sharon who had figured something was up with Aylee and had secretly informed Riff.
Mind you, it put the whole passive-aggressive exchange between Sharon and Riff under a new light. Let's see what comes next.

I was kinda hoping for a new immortal Queen Aylee.
But I guess that's probably not gonna happen now.
We'll get 'em next time, Zill.

It makes sense that Torg would catch on pretty quickly. He's been through this whole Fake Aylee deal before. He might be the world's second thickest brick wall when it comes to understanding women (after Riff of course), but when it comes to his friends he's a lot quicker on the ball.
...usually.

So I'm guessing her next form will have anti-possession features .

Or frozen in time, zapped to other dimensions, abandoned by those friends to get zapped to other dimensions, cloned and imprisoned, sent to hell through a well, forced to teach an ancient queen of a forgotten civilization both English and social manners, and having to put up with a ferret with poor hygienic choices. Nah, we like our Aylee on the team!

Just to point out that the last update recontextualise the last part of this strip quite a bit:

I've been thinking a bit about this being an anti-climax, and in addition to Torg's character development I think one of the reasons for it may be because we've already gone through that plot before with Aylee. The direct nod to Cloney here carries a bit of a "Torg isn't going to spend an arc letting a set up meant to break the group trick him into misjudging his friends again" with it.
