This thread is for posting links to your personal accomplishments. This can be for showing off your website, online comic, artwork, stories, etc. The rules are;

1) This must be your personal accomplishment. This is not for sharing your friend's work or something you just found amusing.

2) The accomplishment must be something tangible that can be linked to online.

3) Links and subject material must not violate Community Standards! Any links which violate Community Standards will be deleted.

4) This thread is for posting accomplishments only. It is not for commenting on the posts.
If we allowed comments the actual accomplishments would get lost in the numerous comment posts and the thread would fill up too fast. This could lead to forcing us to shut down this thread and starting a new one which would mean all previous posts would be lost when that thread dies. To keep it fair to everyone, no commenting please.
If you would like to congratulate a poster on their work, ask if you can use something as an icon or make any other comments to them, send them a private message.
Extraneous comments in this thread may be deleted.

Anybody remember way back when we had the old PAWS thread and I mentioned I was doing intern work for my old school's musical? No?

Well, I'm done now! The play's over. Both the performances nearly sold out, and both got standing ovations :D Also when he was thanking people the director said that he was sure I was going to take his place some day. And everybody did really well and basically it was one of the best experiences of my life.

Status: happy.

EDIT: Oh. Uh. Crap. Completely failed to notice that rule.

....kind of too late to delete it, though.

Quick question, Wile E. Why must "the accomplishment be something tangible that can be linked to online"?

I don't run a website, nor will I direct random people on the internet (Sluggites or not) to a site that gives personal details about me. But I would like, should I have occasion, to present my accomplishments to the community. For example, "I got a new job" can't really be bragged about under these rules without linking to one's place of work - not something I'd be willing to do (here, stalker person, here's where you'll find me 9-5 weekdays!). Talia's post is also disallowed under these rules.

I think the rule is unduly restrictive, but I'm happy to be argued and disagreed with.

Thanks.

I posted a query in mod chat before I created the new thread to see if anyone remembered all the rules we had originally set down. It was another mod who mentioned that it was always something that could be linked to online. I believe the reason for this is that the original intention was to give people a place to show off artwork or works of fiction or poetry that are posted elsewhere since we do not allow those things to be posted here. Other accomplishments like getting a book published could be linked to online because it's likely that there will be some notice about it somewhere online (like Amazon.com). However, it was necessary to limit the amount of things that can be posted about otherwise the thread would become unwieldy, so that is another reason for the link rule.

It is always possible for someone to find some way to create a thread in General Chat and discuss other types of accomplishments as long as they make it a discussion topic. For example, Talia could start a thread about her work on a theatre project and ask other posters if they have had any experience with theatre and any stories to share. As long as it's phrased as a discussion topic and not just a brag that would be acceptable. As long as that doesn't get out of hand. ; )

As for personal websites giving out too much personal info, I have seen many websites that do no more than give out a first name if even that much. You put on the site what you wish the public to see.

This post also violates the rules, so if there is any further discussion on the matter please take it to the Suggestions and Comments forum where we discuss board related issues.
Thanks -WE

I've probably told you all about this, but this was my Halloween costume last year:

This is made of duct tape.

Duct tape, and only duct tape.

how do you determine if an accomplishment is worthy of being mentioned, i mean getting 100 on a test doesnt warrant mentioning, does it?

[Read Billie's post just above here, with all the pretty blue text. Sknaht! -DD]

http://rooms.wurmz.net : My web-comic. It used to be written by me and drawn by inspiration, back in the old days but she was too busy so I took to drawing the comic as well as writing it. Not long till I reach 100 strips so I'm feeling pretty positive about it.

Oh, and in case you're wondering about the content, it's about the adventures of a group of students at university and an insane parrot (who also happens to teach psychology). It's kind of a comedy university based sci-fi. Updates M-W-F.

The Adventures of Timothy Mankert

This is about the adventures of Timothy Mankert, an Ent (Short for Entity, which is short for Entity Manipulation), and Superlagg, an AI that lives in a small black box the size of a laptop battery. The story is being told from the point of view of 'Evil Tim', a sort of omnipresent, omnipotent god. This chapter is here to explain to a small extent Timothy Mankert, who Superlagg is, where he is, and some other things. I appologize if this first part is too long. If you have any questions, please ask, because people from other places have told me that many things need explaining, which I can do easily and with pleasure. I intend for my story to go on for as long as I can. There are at time of postage 17 chapters plus one prologue.

Here you go. This is my story, which has chapters added every so often. I recomend you start with the Prologue.

One of the accomplishments I'm most proud of is the Heroclix Role-Playing Strategy Campaign v2.0. I used to play Heroclix a lot, and this is an online campaign system I made to go with it. I was the GM of the campaign for quite a while, but unfortunately, I got too busy to continue. Now, the players have continued without me (something I'm very pleased about), and are on version 3. If you're not into Heroclix, you probably won't understand most of it; if you're not into comics you probably won't care; if you're into RPG's it may be mildly interesting, but anyway, that's an accomplishment that I'm proud of.
Oh yeah, and like I said on my intro thread, I'm also very proud of the fact that I've been named a Heroclix Scribbling Strategist.

I've just completed a serial story on my blog, called Eyes in the Shadow. After posting a new chapter every two weeks or so for nine months, the completed story is 50,426 words long, about novella length. Here's the short description of the story I've been using:
Quote:
When Ryan meets Emily, a girl who claims to have visions, his first impression is that she must be crazy. His skepticism is shaken when he meets the man who is after her. Whether this man they dub Red-eyes really is some psychotic mutant demon or not, his intentions are deadly.

It can be found on my blog, either starting with the first chapter, or reading the entire story on one page.

The powers that be at my work have seen fit to give me my own political cartoon blog. http://www.civic-express.com/?cat=15

Okay, it's only about local politics and will make zero sense to anyone here. But hey, I have web presence! And it has pretty pictures!

I've been working on this AMV for... well, I started in the beginning of May, and it was -finally- hosted today on animemusicvideos.org. You'll need a membership there to dl the video. If you like Chrno Crusade, and you've listened to any E Nomine, you'll likely like the AMV.
