Wright takes in the scene, and says "We should probably start upstairs. That would be where the family lived, and we may find useful personal supplies or things they hid away. Perhaps some favorite luxury foods."

"Honestly, I am getting hungry myself Master Rook. Firewood is all well and good, but we can't eat or drink it."

Rook climbs to the nearest top step, and looks around.

Oi s'pose I could eat wood if it came to that.

Good grief. I never knew that larps were this detailed.

Humphrey looks around the room a bit, and then heads for the cash registers (or where they used to be). Gold is always useful in larps, right? And besides, he's sure that there will be food found, sooner or later.

He keeps his eyes open for anything that looks useful, or out of place.

Wright and Rook head up the stairs, picking their way through the debris. Rook turns around at the step to give the room a once over to try and find some victuals. The place has been thoroughly ransacked and is somewhat barren.

Rook Survival: +2, Roll: +2, Total: +4.

He looks about a bit. Finds some stains and remains that might have been victuals at some point. He's thinking the place is going to be empty after all until he spots the edge of some kind of rough woven cloth underneath an overturned shelf. Moving the shelf aside reveals a small bag of some kind of dried beans. They look a little bit old... but they're still dry to the touch. Honestly it's somewhat surprising. Everything else has been cool and damp to the touch thus far, but these seem fine. Might still be edible if you cooked them well.

Wright heads further up the stairs and comes to a small landing. A door stands before him and what looks to be a random assortment of dining and living room furniture blocks the path to it through the small area. The door looks like it could potentially be locked, but Wright would have to make his way through the makeshift blockade to check.

Humphrey looks about for anything that might be useful.

Humphrey Investigation: +2, Roll: +2, Total: +4.

He heads to the counter where business transactions would normally take place. It's not difficult to spot. A small chest lays on the floor behind the counter. The chest has been smashed into a few large pieces. It looks like it was dashed several times against the wall and floor, judging by the marks you can spot. The area has a small number of copper coins and one or two silver coins scattered about. It looks like someone tried to get it open in a hurry, then grabbed what they could and ran for it.

After that he finds a few odds and ends littered about the store front. A decent length of rope tucked in an out of the way corner. A bucket that looks like it's still intact sits all alone on the one shelf that hasn't been knocked over. He also manages to find a hatchet head, though the handle has been broken off.

"Mr. Wright, zurr, oi've found som beans. Oi know it don't help our dire situation, but if we plant them soon we moight 'ave a renewable food source."

The rope goes over one shoulder. The coins go into his pockets; the axe head goes into the bucket.

Then he heads on upstairs to see if the others have found anything useful.

Wright nods to Rook. "It is a good thought, master Rook; but until the fog covering this city is dealt with there is not enough light for a crop. The grasses outside are barely surviving, and beans would not likely do any better." He indicates the pile of debris. "But first, someone barricaded this door closed. We need to clear this mess out, but you and Master Humphrey should probably find a club or hearth stone just in case we find something unfriendly behind the door."

While they do that, Wright starts to shift stuff out of the way. Heck, most of it seems to be potential fire wood.

Humphrey takes a few steps back, and holds his bucket with a firmer grip. "Er, I'm not sure - um, what sort of unfriendly could be behind there?"

Wright carries on working one handed so as to have his sword ready. "Possibly an animal? Something undead? Nothing at all? I don't know, but someone seems to have wanted to keep whatever was up here from leaving."

Rook nods toward his stone, indicating it will have to suffice for now, and helps to break down the barricade.

It's no small amount of work, clearing a path. Though the furniture is small and few in number the space is tightly packed. The group working together, though, is able to haul most of the furniture downstairs where it isn't in the way. As barricades go it wasn't much of one.

Whoever tries to open the door will find it locked.
