Martel aside, I suppose our job will be done effectively enough by convincing Aramsham to become a part of the Church's bureaucracy.
Also debating introducing the idea of trying to introduce the idea of Necessarius to him. Necessary evils in the form of magic in order to protect the pure, sinless masses that don't practice magic. ... AFTER he's been converted to our cause.

Or we could sell him on the idea of converting the Church to the True God. What greater victory could God, or His Prophet, display to the world than leading the merely misguided among the Church (especially the knights) back to the True God? And then leading them into cleaning their own house? How could a man who hears the Voice of God fail in such a wondrous tribute to His greater glory?
Besides, I don't think he'd go for rejoining the fold unless the horn specifically told him to.

Ooooh. Good luck with that.
Aramsham may be senile and easily led, but there are still some places that he just won't go.
And yes, the ArchPrelate is the Elene church's equivalent of the Pope.

I'd like to spend a fate point on Laser Focus (or see if I can't take that free tag from Lost in a Metaphor from last turn) to add +2 and give him a moderate consequence.

I'll allow that free tag. (Apologies for the delay). Have edited the in-game post suitably.

Been debating this all day. Thinking it might be too evil for Felix, but... what if we instigated another "Fall On Your Swords" incident?
Spend a whole bunch of fate points and inflict a severe social consequence that more or less convinces him that's something he needs to say to his followers to "weed out corruption church agents".

We've seen how distrustful his followers are of each other. It wouldn't take much to push them over the edge and into attacking each other for not being devout enough. With some prodding and a little luck, we could have his army tearing itself to pieces from the inside.
Or we play it safe and ask for time.

On the other hand, we plant the idea in Aramsham's head that there are those among his followers that are church agents we can more easily move against Martel amidst the chaos.
Plus it'd stop the Eshandist Heresy's movements in its tracks for at least a little while if they rip each other to shreds.

Oh, is there any reason I'm not getting my +3 sidekick bonus to social or did we both just forget that existed for a bit?
EDIT I looked over the last few rounds of social combat and, sidekick bonus included, Aramsham should be on his third consequence now.

Or we could just try to sell him on the idea of subversion; convert the heretics to the service of the true god (to the greater glory of the true god). Let the Church Knights do his dirty work for him.

That's a good idea but it still leaves us open to the manipulations of Martel. He can't be left unattended, especially not after we so boldly walked in here and started screwing up his plans.

I'm idly wondering if we could somehow convince Aramsham that Martell is a Church Knight plant, playing a long game.
Wasn't it mentioned that he's a knight who was thrown out of the order?

EDIT I looked over the last few rounds of social combat and, sidekick bonus included, Aramsham should be on his third consequence now. Mutual forgetting. I'll add it in future rounds. Honestly, Aramsham's almost certainly going to be taking a third consequence next time you speak, pretty much no matter what you say. Kajin wrote: That's a good idea but it still leaves us open to the manipulations of Martel. Aramsham's easily persuaded - but how do you stop Martel from unpersuading him after you leave? balthazar wrote: Wasn't it mentioned that he's a knight who was thrown out of the order? It was. He is. Martel and Sparhawk literally trained together - neither of them are people you really want to get into melee combat against.
