It'll be more believable with less questions if we don't quite go that far.

Telling them we're Terrans will invite lots of questions if it comes to that. Assuming Arkady isn't the only skilled reader of people in the room then we might as well go with the simple truth; we're not going to poison anyone. Unless these folks have some serious vested interest in no cure ever existing that should be fine, but I think our guide would have mentioned if that was the case.

They can see that you're neither Elene nor Styric, and no-one else has suggested that you look exactly like any of the races from this world in any case.

Reassure him that darestim is the poison we're looking for, due to it's unique neurological effects, and that we will be further refining the toxin we buy so a single dose will remain in the targets system and release slowly over time.
Microencapsulation, basically.
Also, the customer is always right.

I'm willing to spend every fate point I can put to an aspect to pass whatever rolls may or may not be coming.
Also, can we have Arkady do an Empathy check?

Arkady has been doing one since this conversation started. He just hasn't gotten an answer yet.

Good answer Kajin. Succinct and polite. You may not need to roll if you keep this up.

Arkady's inability to observe the body language of these poisoners is making it particularly difficult for him to get a cold read on them; hence necessitating a bit of conversation first, during which he's been presumably paying a lot of attention to tones of voice and stuff.
I think he's got enough by now, to have a try, though.

Well, we could probably get Mr. Business man set up with a simple dry-pan technique, which he could use to make coated pills. That's simple enough.
Alternatively, we could offer him samples of the truth serum Nate knocked together, and instructions on how to make more.
I have no idea how we could convince this Aramsham fellow not to invade, but that's why I'm playing a ranger, not a diplomat.

We could also introduce him to saltpeter. Great for making things smoulder without needing a charcoal brazier or some such. In a pinch you can also use it to cure meat without it going grey (which straight NaCl cured meats do).

I was thinking we just give him all the smoke grenades and flashbangs we brought with us with an agreement to send further shipments to him in exchange for coin down the line. Nonlethal, but helpful to a criminal needing to make a quick escape.
I'm not too worried about war between the Elene Kingdom and the Rendorish Fanatics.
