Freddie and Joseph appear in the doorway of the tavern just as Grammy Phillis announces her vote. Freddie doesn't understand. Why would kill his own mother? Why would he do anything like that? He just likes to play with the birds in the street. He would have made some defense fo himself, deflect some of the attacks on his person. However, at his age there is only one response. He starts to cry. Right there in the doorway, holding onto Josephs hand.

Grammy Phillis turns and spots the boy in the doorway. She walks over, tears in her own eyes and tries to hug him.

"Ooh, love. I'm so sorry. If it really is you in there, I'm sorry. If it is a wolf, then may you recieve what you deserve..."

She stands and walks brisquely out of the bar and back to the sandwich shop, where she sits and holds her head together. She has done what she needed to do.
