"So it is." Gremory shrugs, standing to one side as Charles wheels the captive Felix into the main entrance. Oz follows in after, and Gremory shuts the door behind them. As they enter, the two take notice of a trio of candelabra lining the walls. Otherwise unremarkable objects, they stand out because of the bright white flame being given off by the wax candles. "I've already sent someone to alert Master Vaz of your arrival. If he deems fit, he will be along shortly to negotiate terms."

The stairwell Brecon follows manages to spiral a number of meters down into the earth. With Jack following close behind, the duo head downward. After travelling only a few feet Brecon picks up the unmistakable scent of blood. After finally reaching the bottom, the stairway levels off and opens into what can only be described as a pit. Makeshift cells line the walls, many of which have people locked inside.

The first thing that Brecon lays his eyes on is a newly formed vampire. Sitting in the center of the room next to a basement drain, the vampire can be seen tearing its way into the throat of a young man. It manages to perform this feat quite well in spite of the fact that its jaw appears to have recently been broken. The other thug, the one whose chest Felix caved in with the parking meter, can be seen slowly crawling its way towards a young woman chained to the wall. His eyes are solid black, and his otherwise normal mouth has sprouted fangs several inches long. Two men sit at a nearby table playing cards, using the light generated by the bright white flame of a nearby candelabra to see. They are seemingly uninterested in the pleas of the young woman about to have her throat torn out.

Compel: "My Powerful Ally, The Force is."
Target: Brecon Sagar
This man is dead. He's dead because of you, Brecon. You were the one that injured that Infected Thug. Now, in order to heal its injuries, it has given into its thirst for blood and killed someone.

I'm compelling your High Concept, balthazar. Your choice is simple. Either give into your emotion and strike down the fiend that killed the young man, or reign in your feelings and act as you see fit. If you accept the fate point, your character calls forth the magic he was given and casts a spell of your choosing in an attempt to end the vampire's life. Brecon and Jack have currently gone unnoticed. If you accept, you give yourself away and the enemy may be able to send up an alert. If you do not accept, you can spend your only fate point to negate the compel. Doing so will allow you to act as you wish.

"Okay." Charles leans on the handle of the luggage rack.

It could have been a little... embarrassing... if mortal police had spotted the manacled man, but now that they're out of sight of the street, that's no longer something to worry about.

"Indeed. I'm very interested in meeting this... Vaz fellow." Oz leans back against the wall to wait for the leader's arrival.

Neil sits on the roof. He peeks into the skylight every once in awhile, but mostly just regrets not telling someone to give a signal of when to drop. Oh well, they're vampires, they fight loud.

Compel denied. Damnit.

With an effort of will, and the silent roar of a Fate Point being sent into the world, Brecon masters his emotions, and turns to Jack.

"Cover me."

Focusing on the infected menacing the young woman, Brecon reaches out to the Force, and, seizing him, attempts to hurl him into the two card players.

Use evocation. Same as telekinesis glove, except at +4, with discipline and conviction @ +3, +4.

Brecon calls forth a six shift blast of kinetic energy. At conviction +4, Brecon can generate spells of up to four shifts and only incur one point of stress. Adding two additional shifts to the spell generates an extra point of stress each, for a total of three. Brecon takes a three stress mental hit, ticking off his third stress box.

Brecon rolls Discipline +6 Vs +6 Shift spell. He manages, if only barely, to control the spell.

Brecon calls forth his magic, sending a hammer of pure Force at the injured Infected. Picking it up with the sheer strength of his will, he hurls the Infected Thug at the two vampires playing cards at the table. Being caught by surprise, none of them can properly defend themselves. The two vampires are knocked to the floor, along with the table, the playing cards, and the candelabra. The burning white flames of the candles change color as they fall to the floor, flaring up a bright angry red before going out completely.

Spells have a weapon value equal to the number of shifts generated, meaning your six shift spell also had a Weapon rating of six for a total of twelve stress. I divided the stress up 2v5v5 amongst the injured thug and the two vampires. The thug takes a mild physical consequence, causing him to pass out due to previously sustained trauma. The two vampires each take a moderate consequence as well as a one stress hit, ticking off their first stress box.

Jack pulls a hollow glass orb containing a faint golden liquid from his leather bag. When Brecon makes his move, Jack throws the orb at the two vampires who had been knocked down. The delicate glass shatters, flooding the room with the warm light of high noon. The vampires wail a piercing scream as their bodies are assaulted by the captured sunlight. Eventually the screaming ceases and the two vampires are no more. Unable to withstand the pain from being hurled across the room, the Infected Thug falls unconscious due to previous injuries.

The vampires Vaz creates are incredibly weak. After tagging the consequences Brecon's attack generated, Jack was able to gain more than enough shifts to finish the two vampires off with his little orb of light.

Meanwhile, upstairs, the three candelabras hanging on the walls of the foyer react to the extinguishing of their fellow candles in the basement. The white flames immediately flare up into an angry red flame before going out. Gremory whips his head around to stare at the candles, his face contorting in fury. "Intruders!"

"Oh, there's the signal!" Neil gets a running start and leaps feet first into the skylight. He tries to position himself over Gremory so he can grab his head with his legs and break his neck. Neil saw it in a video game once and thought it was totally cool.

Brecon steps forward to engage the fledgling Vampire, bringing his baton down at it in a Saber Smash.

While Gremory is turned around and distracted, Ozymandius steps up behind him to lay a hand on him... and fill him with despair.

It takes Charles a moment to react. The candles - some sort of alarm? What sort? But... they just changed colour and flared. An alarm without a source? The Red vampires are alerted but if they don't know where or what the alert is...

"Of course there's intruders." grins Charles, brushing his hair back on one side of his head to reveal his pointed ear, mark of a Changeling heritage. "Didn't I mention the Summer Court earlier?"

Attempting to intimidate.

A dozen ululating wails that could have only come from inhuman throats resonate throughout the mansion, Gremory wailing along with them as he swings a fist like a sledgehammer at Ozymandius.
Gremory rolls Fists +3 Vs Athletics +3. The hit connects. No shifts are generated, but three stress is still generated due to Inhuman Strength and Claws. It ticks off Oz's third stress box.

Neil Hewlett rolls Fists +0 Vs Athletics +0
Having been unaware that Neil was up there, Gremory is caught completely by surprise and unable to defend himself. Fortunately for Gremory, Neil misses completely. Fortunately for Neil, Felix cushions his fall by virtue of landing right on top of him.

"Ow! Get off a me!" Felix yells as he tries to extricate himself from the sudden tangle of limbs.

Ozymandius rolls Deceit +6 Vs Discipline +0. The mental attack inflicts a moderate mental consequence and checks off his second mental stress box.
I'll have you feel despair... The demon that resides within Oz's soul smiles gleefully at the chance to inflict suffering. Upon contact with Gemory's skin, Ozymandius unleashes his demon upon the vampire. Gemory's eyes go wide with despair even as Oz's eyes turn a few shades lighter.

Charles rolls Intimidation +2, tagging the new mental consequence for a total of +4. Gremory rolls Intimidation +2 to defend, failing and suffering a mild mental consequence.
Gremory has had just about all he can stand. Turning on his heel, he runs out the front door screaming like a madman as the despair turns into very real fear.

Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice...

The vampire rolls Fists +3 Vs Weapons +5. Brecon defends successfully and the vampire takes a one stress hit for attacking without a proper weapon.
The fledgling vampire howls its hunting cry as it charges straight at Brecon, somehow dimly remembering that he was responsible for its injuries. Brecon sees it coming and smacks its claws aside with has Baton before they can do any harm.

Brecon rolls Weapons +3 Vs Athletics +3. The attack makes contact and generates four shifts at Weapon 5 for a total of nine stress. The fledgling vampire takes a mild and moderate consequence to mitigate six stress. The remaining three stress ticks off its third box. Brecon's first stress box is ticked off for casting the Rote Spell.
Calling forth the energies he was gifted, Brecon enforces his Baton with the kinetic energy of his magic. Swinging his weapon down in a powerful Saber Smash, he is met with spectacular results as the vampire's skull and chest both are simply crushed under the impact.

Jack follows up by putting a round from his shotgun into the stomachs of all the vampires. These things are notoriously tough to kill and it never hurts to make sure. Now that the fight is over, Brecon and Jack count over a dozen prisoners.

"Ah! T***, I'm sorry! I meant to and on that other vampire." Neil gets off of Felix and notices the fleeing vampire. "Told you guys! Monkey-man falling from the roof. It's a psychological thing. Works everytime. Now, how's about we take a gander at what's behind that bookcase over yonder?"

Brecon proceeds to shake the Goo off of his baton for the second time that night, from the same vampire no less, and proceeds to pound it closed on the floor. That done, he turns to the prisoners.

"Anyone know who has the keys?"

"Yeah? Where'd you learn that trick from, Agent Honeydew?" Felix rolls his shoulders to get the crick out of them before ripping his way free of the fake manacles. Though the cuffs themselves are fake, the length of chain they attached to is very real. Felix opts to take the chain with him as an improvised weapon, taking a few practiced swings with it to test it out. "The passage behind the bookshelf leads to the lab Vaz uses. If he's down there, he'll likely only have a couple of his lieutenants with him to serve as guards."

A couple of very loud explosions can be heard towards the back of the mansion, signalling the arrival of the distraction. If the group wants to pursue Vaz, now would be the best chance.

=================================================================================

Jack walks over to where the table was knocked over, covering his nose and mouth with the sleeve of his jacket as he shifts through the unsavory debris. After a moment, he comes away with a large ring of keys. There's easily several dozen of them.

"Well this gets us nowhere," Jack says as he starts trying to unlock the cages. "This could take awhile. I'll see to things here. You best go on ahead, I got things covered here."

There's a passage opposite the stairwell that leads farther out into the basement. Brecon can either follow it along and find out where it leads or backtrack and try to catch up with the rest of the group as they move in to take out Vaz.

With a nod to Jack, Brecon heads down the mystery passage, baton in hand, but unopened.
