Well, he see's Greenleaf passed out, no sign of running into anything. So, through really fast reasoning, he believes the mage did it. He believes it's some sort of sneaky mage trap. He's not trying to be incompetant, he's trying to quickly think and he's incompetant at that.

Yes, but this is the I-Forget-How-Manyth time he's done it, and has been expressly told by the other two mages at least twice each to stop doing that.

Yes, I guess that is true. But honestly, I couldn't see a way to stop the mage from knocking Anthony out other than stabbing him (at least, that's the only way I saw Anthony would do it).

If it's any consolation, I've been trying to work out any reason why Sparrow would possibly stay after this. Poor communication kills, indeed. And, as it transpires, someone who can usually dodge angry bigger people simply by turning invisible and who often has the attention span of a mayfly is very, very hard to intimidate. I'll give him a suitably fairy-tale sendoff...

Wow, I missed a lot! I'm really sorry to see Sparrow go. I had plans...this changes things a bit. And I wonder how Jave's going to react to his employees killing each other?

"Thanks for saving me 100gp and getting the job done anyway"? :D
Zaljan'll cross that bridge when he comes to it. He does have a dark side, though.

How will his death affect those who've been sleep'd?

Spells typically have a duration. Sometimes that duration is a period of time, sometimes that duration is while the caster concentrates. Sparrow's spells didn't seem to require concentration to maintain, and he didn't say anything about permanence, so it's probably just an ordinary sleep that will wear off when it wears off, or when we are woken.

The sleep spells should last until they're woken, or an hour or two, whichever is longer. Sparrow was only after a few minutes not being attacked so he could try to work out why he was being attacked in the first place.
I'm sorry to see Sparrow go, too. This game was a lot of fun.
How on earth is Zaljan going to explain to Yala where the fairy went? Or to the Fairy Queen's emissary, should she send one out to find out where her subject is?

Sparrow spent most of his time invisible or shielded by an illusion, it'd be easy to say "hes still invisible but a lot calmer now" and have any of the other mages throw up an illusion.
Or we just tell her the truth.
