While I am looking forward to having the comic link on the top, I'm pretty happy with the upgrade.
I've switched to SubSilver 2, so it isn't that different looking. One thing I LOVE is the "View your posts" link at the top of every page (instead of just the top of the index page).

Ok something seems fishy about the search function. It seems like it's only searching recent results. For instance, I did a search for "bush" after failing to get any results for "president bush", and the oldest result that came back was from August 12th.
Also, the history thread didn't start popping up in the search results until I restored all the parts that had been truncated. Do the admins have a global setting that limits the time frame from which the search returns results? Because I'm not limiting it on my searches, I tell it to return everything, and I get nothing back. Even with searches that I KNOW should return results.

I think the text search index needs to be refreshed. I'm guessing it only knows about posts made after the upgrade.

Okay. I love the fact that my avatar is back. I don't love the look of the forum. I have it set so that the avatars are on the left but I still miss the old coloring and design. Is there a way to get that back?

Go to User Control Panel, select "Board Preferences", and select "subsilver2" as your theme.

I did. I still don't like it. I'm wondering about getting the old skin back, not just having the avatars on the left.

It is not likely that we'll do drastic things like moving avatars around. We will be restoring some of the look, as far as adding a sluggy.net header to the top, the Sluggy navigation menu, etc.
We aren't going to be wasting hours upon hours retooling the look and feel of the boards to give everyone warm fuzzy happy feelings.

Is it not possible to allow users to create their own color schemes for use on the boards? I've seen similar things done elsewhere, but I don't know what program they were using.

As soon as Pete starts paying me a salary enough to pay my rent and fuel the cocaine habit I'd clearly need to keep up with the lot of you, I'll get right on that.
Until then, you'll have to suffer with what we have available.

This is a minor request, and hardly of huge relevance, but I miss having my PM notification emails come from [email protected]. Her email address is just cooler that [email protected], and the first time I got one, I thought I was in trouble for accidentally breaking the server, or somesuch. I can get used to it, of course, but I just felt like sharing. (Edited to remove email addresses from easy spambot reading)

That's a reasonable one on the email, seems to be a side effect of the board upgrade. I will fix it, as it's broken all of my mail filters :)

So, um, about the search. Can it be fixed, or not? I don't care about the when, so much, I'd just like to know one way or the other.

Don't know yet, it's one of the things I have to look into today. I assume it can be reindexed.

I love it.
