WTF is the two-headed Aylee like thing that's definitely not Aylee, because the gang left her behind AGAIN!

Considering the text at the top of the comic, I'd say that's a representation of Torgs soul. Dr Daiyu has something like it too, though it looks different

This of course raises more questions than it answers. Why does Torg's have 2 heads and where is Zoe's, to start.

I hadn't made the connection with the representation of the soul, thank you for pointing that out! When I reread today's strip, I noticed that Torg and Daiyu don't really seem to notice their blue companions, so perhaps not "friends" as I had originally thought.

I agree with your questions--the shapes must have some signfigance.

Until I saw that Daiyu had something too, I assumed it was Chaz. Since it was on Torg's back.

Hmm...Sun is out but the sky is black. Have they found themselves in one of those dark stages of Super Mario bros?

I'm guessing it's a double moon.

Okay the Moon probably makes more sense. But Pete usually draws that with craters doesn't he?

I wonder what happened to Daiyu's leg tentacle, the one that pipped out from her gunshot wound.

I too noticed that the leg tentacle seems to be gone. If tentacles can "mutate" into existence, then perhaps they can also "mutate" out of existence?

I can't wait to find out more about the blue appearances.

What would "once in a blue moon" mean in this world?

Those rocks in the surf have an awfully human shape to them.

That's what I thought in the very first frame. Perhaps they used to be animated?

Well, the title of this chapter, combined with the various shapes of the blue 'creatures' hovering next to all (but Zoe) makes me think of Pokemon...

Hope they don't have to catch them all (or worse, be caught by all of them...)

Excited for the new chapter! I'm ready for a break from the long-running plot involving over a decade of combined history between the characters (though I enjoyed that too, just nice to have something fresh). I'm intrigued so far!

To me, Torg's anima reminds me of the guardians of the caves of Iffy: http://archives.sluggy.com/book.php?cha ... 1999-08-08, http://archives.sluggy.com/book.php?cha ... 1999-08-16. But maybe the resemblance isn't really that strong.
