Poetic justice.

Riff's 'last moment' is him wanting to be better, taking responsibility for past mistakes. Schlock's last moment is the exact opposite, blaming everyone trying to correct his own mistakes. This was perfectly satisfying.

(Just remembered Riff's bloodline... truly, Justice is here today)

I want to add that I even loved the joke. Throwing us off guard with the "wow how did that miss me" when we've all been waiting, making our guard go down and then... whammo!

Rest in pepperoni Shlock.

Well they always say "if there's no body, he ain't dead yet." But the glasses are pretty damn convincing. Not to mention the whole exploding-in-space bit.

As always, masterfully done, Pete.

So, well, that would seem to have prevented the whole 4U scenario, yes? Unless the AI keeps going and takes over the world. I think they need to blow up / de-orbit that space station, or otherwise make sure the AI is toaaaaast.

Oh, that was perfect. Just... the fact that in making one more paranoid weapon against Riff, Schlock inadvertently put himself into an inescapable trap and never realized it. He spent so much time trying to outsmart everybody that he forgot to not outsmart himself.

Lord Golbez wrote:
Quite appropriate that Shlock who very literally "did this to himself" is so utterly lacking in self-awareness to the bitter end.

He died the way he lived. Running, ironically leaving safety behind due to his own cowardice.

A long, long, loooong time ago, Schlock was once a friend. So while it may not be the one I thought would die, I find myself actually still kind of sad. Even after allllll the horrible things he's done, I apparently always hoped, deep down, that he'd "turn around" one day.

I'll miss you, strange as that may be, Dr. Irving Schlock.

Holy crap, that was quite the resolution to yesterday's cliffhanger. This has been a long time coming, but I never expected it would go quite like this.

Well played Mr Abrams

It's bitter sweet to see Schlock's glasses floating in space
It's such a climax, than you Pete

I always liked Schlock. Less so after his heel turn of course, but I liked him enough that I am sad to see his life end. I too held out hope for an eventual redemption.

As a programmer, I find the fatal flaw in his logic to be very...satisfying? It seems like the wrong word, but it's the only one that comes to mind at the moment.

Welp...that was pretty satisfying. Still, can't help feel a small twinge seeing those broken glasses. He may never have been "one of the good guys" but he was part of the team, if only for a while.

"Honestly, he did this to himself."

Yep.

I hope he was able to DFA himself to ironic safety, but those glasses don't look good.

I would have liked to have seen the expression on his face just before they hit.

Bye bye Schlock. You're someone else's problem now. Hope you come back some day as an AI, ghost, or whatever other weird thing the sluggyverse is full of. Maybe a talking pie? Nawwwww, been done before....

the missiles were behind him. I doubt he even knew the irony of his last statement.

For a moment there I thought I won a cookie. So the A.I. had a tracker on Schlock. Who'd of thunk it?
