I know, probably super low on the list of things to-do, but that RSS feed is a lifesaver for comics, especially ones that aren't going to update on a fixed schedule! Please, please!

Hear, hear. RSS is the only useful way to keep up with a non-regularly-updated comic.

Yes, please. RSS is the best way to let people know when an update happens.
It's automatic, fast, and low bandwidth.

Less palatable alternatives:
  1. Spam email (defenders) when a page updates. (Better than nothing.)
  2. Make a twitter tweet with each update. (Some artists aren't disciplined enough, though. I'm looking at you Girl Genius.)
  3. Do nothing. Then we users and our bots continually reload the page. Skewing stats, wasting bandwidth, and annoying paying customers.
