Not entirely sure why this thread hasn't been made yet. Anyway, Pacific Rim. If you consider yourself a part of nerd culture or a consumer of nerd related memorabilia, you need to see this movie. If you're a fan of giant monster movies, you need to see this movie. If you're a fan of giant robot anime, you need to go see this movie.

Seriously, I shouldn't have to tell this to anyone here more than once.

Now, as is sluggite custom, I shall wait for someone to reply to this thread saying they've seen the movie before I begin to discuss spoilery bits.

I came out with several story ideas set in the same universe and wanting to know more about the drifting process.

I kept thinking there needed to be a Jaeger that stands on the shoreline firing a giant railgun at the approaching Kaiju. Also sorta bummed that the Russian and Chinese Jaeger crews didn't get more screen time than they did. Their Jaegers looked awesome. Especially the Russian one with the nuclear cooling tower for a head.

Here's the main thing that bugged me. If I was a giant robot pilot and said robot had access to a sword, I wouldn't need to be reminded of the fact.

It was a new addition that he was unaware of. But I still call bull over the fact that no one thought to tell him. It would have taken, like, thirty seconds. "Oh, hey, btw the Gipsy Danger has two totally awesome chain swords." Seriously.

"Yeah, you might want to train with them a little bit considering they're significantly more effective than punching or waiting for your firearm to charge. In fact we probably should've just replaced your hands with swords though I guess then you couldn't pick up boats."

I saw it at what I think they refer to as an "IMAX Experience" theater. I liked it. Wanted to see the movie again, but unfortunately things did not align.

If we're lucky, it will make enough money that they will do a sequel (where GLaDOS takes over the facility...maybe). It didn't do as well as they hoped in the States, but worldwide it is doing pretty good.

Well he was used to using fists and plasma casters, the swords might slip his mind in the middle of a battle since he really did not have much time from when they brought him back and when he went out to fight.

Interesting... the Jaeger also had dark matter cannons...

And what was the deal with only fielding two Jaegers against two category four Kaiju when they had four Jaegers available? I know they weren't confident in the Gipsy's combat abilities just yet, but having the Striker Eureka stand by precious minutes away from the fight when this was the first double event ever? The commander was carrying a seriously heavy idiot ball there.

Oh, and a sequel has already been confirmed. Apparently China is eating Pacific Rim up. Might have something to do with the best battles of the movie taking place in Hong Kong.

No Kajin, it has not been confirmed yet. Your link is just about them working on script shortly after the movie first came out, which is weeks before the movie came out in China. Though it is looking like there's a good possibility of it happening.

No official (or any) word from Warner Brothers at this time.

There will truly be no justice in the world if Pacific Rim doesn't get a sequel of some kind. So I'm taking it on faith that such a thing is possible.

Have you looked at the world lately?

The world as it stands never had any justice to begin with.

Anyway, has anyone else seen this movie?

We can bring Justice to the world.

With GIANT ROBOTS.
