Hey everyone, it seems like just last year we had the Waldo Canyon Fire, and now this...

For those of you who don't know; there are currently 2+ fires burning in Colorado. One's near Royal Gorge, the other is in Black Forest-

And less than five miles away from me.

We haven't been evacuated yet, but given the predicted wind shift later tonight... We're prepping for the worst.

I'm not going to be able to post again for about four weeks; I'm going somewhere where I can't have my phone or Internet Access, just thought I'd let everyone know, and set up a topic for other Sluggites who might be nearby...

Good Luck to you all.

Good Luck to you all.

And good luck to you in what sounds like basic training.

Wind was from the northeast for some reason, so the city is blanketed in smoke. My lungs hurt a bit from a couple hours of breathing it, and my roommate's parents are evacuating from Canyon City----to here.

And I just finished unpacking the remnants of my bug-out bag from last year a few days ago...

The wind has moved, so it's coming from the southeast now, blowing the fire northwest. My friend's mom and grandma just voluntarily left their homes and I finally convinced my mom that she needs to go home and pack some stuff because they could be evacuated any minute.

And you unpacked it because? A bug-out bag should always be handy for any number of reasons (yes, I'm a hypocrite because I don't have one).

Stay safe, guys! Keep a bag or two packed and ready to go. Hopefully, all the rain will hold off the Texas fires this year.

I have a cat who will pee on anything cloth left on the floor, and I didn't have anywhere else to stash the bag. I can always repack it with fresh clothing.

OK, good enough reason.
