Given the recent blatant defiance of one of the mods in one of the forums by a certain poster, I'm wondering whether it might not be a good idea to bring back titles, if only so that the moderators can be clearly labelled as such. To be fair to the obnoxious prat, it's entirely possible he wasn't aware that the mod in question was in fact a mod.
And while on the subject, I'm not sure why the forum conventions for Gen Chat haven't been replaced since the switch over, but without them, there is currently no means for a new poster on the board to find out what topics are banned without bringing it up by accident. And there is also a very easy excuse for anybody who joined relatively recently and may know the banned topics, but goes there all the same. Anyway, could we get those posted again?
It just seems like we've got a lot of relatively uppity/disrespectful new folks, and I can't help but wonder if the lack of blatantly labelled authority has something to do with it. [/unjustified feelings of being an old timer]

Whatever happened to the Admin/Moderator Frame bandwagon? I thought that was a pretty effective substitute for the titles.

It's just like any other avatar: you can only wear it for so long before getting sick of it. I needed a change, as did any other mod who no longer wears them. Plus, I have no photoshop skills, so I couldn't make a new one.

I've actually wondered this for a while, but what's the point of only giving moderators mod powers in certain forums? If FTM had jurisdiction* in WGARS none of that would have happened. Wouldn't it be easier if mods had mod powers in all forums? There's probably a reason, I just thought I'd ask.
*For lack of a better word.

The reason that only a few mods are on each forum is so we don't have too many cooks. It's harder to keep track of what actions everyone might be taking if there are several people dealing with one situation. Also it makes it easier for the posters to know who to PM for problems or questions in that forum.
Even if a mod is not a moderator in a certain forum, if they point out that something is against the rules or that a thread should be considered locked, the posters should pay attention to that moderator as if they are a moderator of that forum. Just because we can't lock a thread doesn't mean you can keep posting in it when we say to consider that thread locked.

OOh I hope I wasn't one of those people. If I was I assure you I did it by accident. I'm still mastering the learning curve of this place.

I'm all for the ressurection of titles.
I worked hard to become a Beta Tester of DOOM, darnit!
Well, I worked hard for the money to bribe the mods to get the title...
Well, begging for the money is hard work, y'know.

FTM is right, moddy avatars get old after a while, especially when everyone had poster-type ones.
I never even got a title, so I'm all for it.

Actually, its not so much common sense as a paraphrasing of a quote. Thus, while you were both almost right, neither of you were.
And that makes me special, because I *was* right.
Or should I say that makes me super?
I say, 'Titles for everyone'. If you haven't earned (or bribed) one of your own, you are an 'Average Joe' or 'Average Jane'.

I'm actually not so much after titles for everyone. I liked them being conferred only for something special, and while I would agree that people who paid to get a title got shorted a bit when they went away, I didn't like that titles were becoming something you could buy/beg for. If Mods get titles, I'd want it to be a title that says, "Moderator" and nothing else. Or perhaps a title specific to them, but which involves the word "Moderator"
