Real life skills are actually part of the character creation. And as long as you arent openly stupid about it, ill let you put almost ANYTHING in that list, and i will find reasons it might matter. (get esoteric and it might not, but its your choice, its part of who your character is.) Things like smithing skills means you might have the knowledge of how to set up the Crafting options for optimal use with less experimentation.

Your stats are based on your class and build. Your mind will work the same, and reaction speed isn't connected to stats, but if your Strength stats aren't high enough, you might end up dropping something you try to lift, or the like.

It'll take some getting used to, but the body you'll have in universe is very different from the one you have in reality. You wont get physically tired, even if you run, though you can create an exhaustion condition which forces you to slow down.d And other things like that. It's all in the flexibility and responsiveness of your mind, since it exists as neural impulses.

Anima Software would like to remind you that it is the job of the moderators to answer these questions, not random people who are trying to guild recruit.


OOC: Working on character creation basics, will be up soon, though probably work will put a pause on that till tonight. Feel free to keep asking questions. Note, you don't have to do as Dom or Rabbit and start developing characters in said questions, but its ALLOWEd. and somewhat amusing. ^^

CHARACTER CREATION! ABANDON ALL HOPE! (im clearly quite dramatic.

I. Well, here we are at last. What you need to be to be in my game. On my estimate im taking 6-8 players, it'll depend on what is submitted.

Now, first we need the basics.
A character/Screen Name, which will be your basic name in the game, of course, and for messaging.
A real name, of course. You can choose to keep it as secret as you want, even refusing to use it in reality if you wish.
Age: Id prefer an age range of 14-30 or so. Any characters outside that range will need a clearer concept in order to be accepted.
A quick note, your character needs to be SOMETHING of a gamer. They need to be interested in games enough to have pursued this Beta signup.

II. Stats
There are four basic stats for players. As you will be diving into a game, the stats that matter arent physical, but mental. There are 4 stats, all that start at 1 out of 6 total possible points. The system is point b uy, with 9 points to work with. A stat of 2 is considered "Average", 4 is a "talented" and 6 is "elite.". 1 is a simple "Below average" since minmaxing further than that is discouraged, anyways.

As the system is somewhat informal, the stats arent the end all. They have meaning, but see them instead as building a mental profile of your character's skill.

The stats are:
Wits: Ability to process information. This stat indicates your ability to absorb concepts, figure out things. Having a high stat in this means that youll be likely to figure out problems and puzzles, and come up with shortcuts and new ideas.

Focus: Your ability to notice things. Perception and awareness are included in this. With this stat, you'll pick out details, be better at subtle things, and therefore also good at detection and searching.

Will: Your mental resilience. Exhaustion in the game is from the wearing out of the nerves and the mind. You gain fatigue less from constant action and more from dealing with difficult circumstances and problems. In accelerated time, players will need to rest or sleep almost as much as in normal life, though sleep only in extreme cases of exhaustion (The system can be set to wake someone up in game). Will reduces this problem.

Reflex: Your mind's ability to react. Precision and reflexes are controlled by processing power in the mind. This wont increase your ability to, say, navigate in game menus. Instead, it is more of a direct battle ability.Please do not assume that a high reflex automatically makes you a better fighter. It is not that simple, so if you have VERY high reflex, you better have a good reason for having that precise and responsive a mind.

Immediate question: may we have stat values of 3 or 5? You don't mention them specifically, but if we're limited to the values you explicitly provide then we can only choose between a 6-1-1-1 or a 4-2-2-1 between the four stats. (I'm hoping to go with 3-2-2-2, myself.)

You start with 1 in each stat, and i only listed each as a guideline. so itd be more like 6 3 2 2.

III Knacks.

Ok, I PRAY that this part is clear enough.

Every player gets 4 Knacks. Now, a knack is anything a player has as a skill. Something you would like to note is valuable for you. People ahve asked questions about things like "What if we know how to smith?" That would be an example of a Knack. Note that "playing games" mostly will help only with playing with the game's menus and the like, so isnt as valuable as you think. Also, trying to anticipate a class is risky too, as in the smithing example. But come up with anything you like, i wont limit you unless youre trying to deliberately be pointless. You'd be surprised the value of ALL kinds of Knacks.

IV: Background info.

Honestly, this one is for you guys. I would request you make some plot hooks just to get the game some traction, and i'll happily work directly with anyoe who wants to feel out an idea, but here is where you make your character's history. The only requirements, as noted before, is that they need to have an attachment to gaming.

Note, people can choose to link their character histories together if they want. There's mild risk, of course, that i only take one. but in that case ill fill in a similar NPC for the situation. You may also line them up AFTER submission if they end up skewing together. I'm not against coming up with online connections between players either, though try not to have more than one other PC in that sense.

IV:B Tell.
This is optional, but a fun thing. You can designate a single visual tell of your avatar. Since i will be controlling the basic form of them, you dont get that much control, but you can choose a single thing. Whether its a bit of clothing, like glasses, or a distinct visual, like hair, or coloration, or something else. Its entirely cosmetic, but givin a bit of a human feel, i'd say.


V: The Quiz

Now, remember, when you take this quiz, it's being taken by your character. Now, as i said before, I STRONGLY urge player characters to not be trying to manipulate the system with this quiz, but instead answer as close to themselves as they can. If you do otherwise, at least give me a heads up, because i WILL be using this as plot fodder, if the chance arises.


You're almost ready to start playing Domain of Dreams! But now we have to see what method of play, what character is best for you! Now, to finish the quiz, select under each question the answer you feel most suits your own philosophy/views. Good Luck!

1. Do you believe that riches and good fortune are best given directly to others to help, or to better yourself to help others?
2. How does rainy weather make you feel? Sad or happy?
3. What is more important, strength or resilence?
4. Do you believe the universe is inherently benevolent or malevolent?
5. What is more important? The trip or the destination?
6. What do you fear more, injury or sickness?
7. Is the greatest gift something of value, or something personal?
8. What makes you happier? Success or effort?
9. Which do you believe is stronger? Nature's fury or humanity' effort?
10. What is more important to your life? Great chance of success or great stability?
11. Does the cold bother you?
12. Is your favorite meal breakfast or dinner?
13. What is more interesting to you? Travel or conflict?
14. What season do you enjoy more? Summer or Winter?
15. Which is your favorite animal? Dog, cat?
16. Are you a day or night person?
17. Are you for or against authority?
18. Do you like the city or the forest?
19. What matters to you more in a trip? Speed or convenience?
20. Are you a leader or a follower?
21. Can you swim?
22. Do you believe everything has a place, or that choice matters the most?
23. Desert or Ocean, which is more impressive to look at?
24: Do you greet each day with hope or worry?


OK, thats it. You can put up partials here, and of course ask me questions, but i would prefer PMs of the final character. Oh, and i wont b e telling you what you get on a quiz until your final, so dont try to test me on that. ^^

Oh man, that quiz would drive me crazy! I'd want to elaborate, or choose neither and the like. Awesome.

Like I hinted earlier, I plan on playing a fat dude, probably at the age limit you asked for Jared. So, 30 years old, and someone who usually plays single player games but just can't stay away from this new, awesome tech. If anyone wants to talk about trading hooks, etc I'm open for it.

I'll PM the character when I get off work and have some time to think about what exactly I'd answer.

Same, though I'd consider mine more a rough draft than anything. When talking about background info, did you mean info about the real-life character or the character's in-game avatar?

Ok, its as i feared, knacks arent being communicated right. Thats two of three that don't match what its supposed to be. Its supposed to be skillsets. Professions, hobbies, that sort of thing. Examples i can think of are Blacksmithing, Karate, Art, maybe stranger things like scuba diving or astronomy. Apparently my description sounded more like Aspects from the Fate system. so anyone who submitted on that style, im going to ask for a resend with adjustment.

Yeah, that's pretty much the aim i had. Do't worry too much about it being "fitting" for the game, btw, guys. Do anything that matches your character. you may be surprised at how it ends up connecting.

Does the environment change in-game? Like, if we wanted, could we claim a spot of land for our guild and build ourselves a Headquarters there to base our operations out of and store all our shiny things? Could we do a similar thing on an individual scale, such as building a home for our character to stay in by his or herself?

I ask because my character might decide he wants to build a small farm to keep his character well-fed or as an additional source of currency if characters don't need to eat or drink.
