I have been a defender of the Nifty since 2001. Something in the new site design is giving me trouble paying my dues, though. I have tried with Mac OS X Safari and Firefoc, and with Win XP IE 6 and IE 8. Every time I try to log in I get the page telling me to pay my dues, but the paypal link is missing. I would like to pay, but without the link I can't seem to manage it. I tried other paypal links on the site and got Server Err messages.

Help?

Unfortunately, you may have to wait another week, or two, or more before you will be able to pay again.

On the main page of Sluggy.com there is a news item about this that was posted on July the 29th:

Want to be a Defender? Be one like... eek... NOW! New defenders signup will be disabled for as much as a few weeks while we finish testing. You may want to join or renew before the new site is released Friday eve.

I've had a new problem today.

First a big long string of words: I too have been waiting for the paypal link to come back so I could renew my membership. I foolishly thought I had renewed for two years last year and wasn't too concerned when I saw the notice that the link would be down. But then after the site refresh I tried to get in and was told my membership had expired. Checking my paypal records I saw I had apparently only paid for a year. I got the bright idea while looking at the records of sending a payment for my renewal manually through paypal. I got a notice it was accepted but so far nothing has come from that yet.

I've been trying to login to my dotn everyday since to see if the link is available or my manual payment was applied. Each day it gave me a notice that I had to renew but no paypal link with which to do so. Until today: Now it just takes me to a generic Login failed screen. Ack! has my dotn account been deleted?!? Or maybe the password reset? I hope it's not deleted, that would suck. If it's been reset I didn't get a notice and there is no password reminder link I can find.

Hope I didn't break anything trying to fix it either. I tried going in through the registration page and got a internal server error page and a 'Welcome' email. uh oh.

edit: oh and to whom it may concern, my dotn login is CougRon

Thanks,

Arrgh. Like Ronald Kinion I thought I had signed up for more time than I had. Then I found out the hard way that my DotN membership had expired. So now that the signups are enabled again, I thought I'd renew. No such luck. The system won't take either my real name, user name, or email address. There seems to be no "renewal" function available, just signing up for a new account. I don't want to sign up for a new account, I want to renew my account.

DotN is having issues at the moment as you may be able to gather from the news item at the top of the page.

Are we supposed to be letting someone know if we can't sign in? Because I can't

You can add to the stack on the report site issues site (the link to it is under about us on the main page). Although Rit's working on it already.

Same thing happened to me yesterday evening (Thursday). I decided to wait and see if the problem was temporary. Turns out that it was; I was able to log in today with no trouble. In my case, I had asked the system to send me an "I've forgotten my password" email. Oddly enough, I still haven't gotten my "new password" email, and it's been well over 24 hours.

This didn't appear to be the same problem that happened to me before. Then, the system simply couldn't identify me, neither by name, password, nor email address. This time it simply said my password was invalid. Entering my username in all lowercase didn't change matters.

Anybody else have this problem?
