A month or two later.Well, seeing as things are starting to warm up, I've decided to launch the new Best Ever contest. It'll be structured like the previous contests, with suggestions for improvement being gladly accepted. Some criteria for nominations. 1. Must be a character from a comic book (e.g. Deadpool, Sandman, etc.) 2. No characters from manga (e.g. Naruto, Goku, etc.). Sorry, but there's not a lot of people who follow manga here 3. Villains will be accepted for nomination (e.g. Doctor Doom, Lex Luther) 4. If there is more than one hero with the same name, PLEASE put identity, writer or publisher next to the name (e.g. Sandman (Neil Gaiman), etc.) 5. If you nominate a hero, you nominate that hero in all Universes. (e.g. If you nominate Wolverine, you nominate Ultimate Wolverine and ALL others) 6. No teams (e.g. Avengers, X-Men, etc.) All heroes must be voted individually. That's about it. Floors open. Heres my nominations to get out of the way: Spider-Man Captain America Iron Man Wolverine Silver Surfer Deadpool Gambit Thor Jean Grey Hulk Venom Carnage Doctor Doom Apocalypse Mystique Magneto Green Goblin Sandman (Neil Gaiman) Nominations close Thursday.

Because of their recent incarnation in the comics, I must nominate: Goliath Elisa Maza David Xanatos
*Especially* David Xanatos, but it felt wrong to not nom the other two, as well.

Because it would be utterly preposterous for either of these not to be nominated:

If you say Jean Grey, does that include her as Phoenix/Dark Phoenix as well? I'd have to assume so.
My nominations: Colossus (X-Men) Beast (X-Men) The Hulk (How could we leave him out, people! He's villain and hero all in one big green package.) Ghost Rider Joker (Just because you're a homicidal psychopath doesn't mean you can't have a smile on your face!)
EDIT: And just for the record, I think the main reason I'm saying Joker is because he was played by two superb actors in Nicholson and Ledger. Nicholson stole the first Batman movie, and Ledger stole the most recent, with two completely different portrayals of everyone's favorite villain.

I didn't forget him. He's nominated in the first post.

I didn't forget him. He's nominated in the first post. My bad. For some reason I didn't see him there. Hard to miss him normally speaking.

I don't really know much about him, but I did fall in love with his portrayal on Justice League Unlimited: The Question.
Also, I would be remiss if I didn't nominate his inspiration: Rorschach
And hell, why not? He won't get far I imagine, but he is my favorite Batman Villain: The Riddler

If it comes to needing seconds, I'm officially seconding both the Joker and the Riddler.
I'm also posting just so no one gets the mistaken idea that Rorschach preceded the Question. The Question came first by a couple decades. In fact, I'm not sure anything from the Watchman was actually original. Moore didn't invent, merely followed.

Oops, you're right of course FB. I think I got mixed up because of this quote from Wikipedia. Wikipedia wrote: In "The Question" #17, Vic picks up a copy of Watchmen to read on a trip and initially sees Rorschach as being quite cool. But after Vic is beaten up trying to emulate Rorschach's brutal style of justice, he concludes that "Rorschach sucks."

FreakyBoy wrote: In fact, I'm not sure anything from the Watchman was actually original. Moore didn't invent, merely followed. Yes, and no at the same time. Part of the point to the Watchmen was to take a sharp pointy object and deflate all of the do-gooder superhero movies we all grew up with. The previous female member almost gets raped, three of the heroes have sex, and the villain actually turns out to be one of the "heroes". That's what was original about the Watchmen, not the genesis of the actual characters - Nite Owl is such a clear analogy to Batman (and a character Batman spawned) it hurt my brain.
