TWO terms? What makes you think that Pence would win reelection?
Meanwhile, the notorious Michael Wolff book is a firm entry in the Trump Is Actually An Idiot column. Just in case any of us were still wondering if he is secretly a media-manipulating master of distraction. Turns out many of the seemingly pointless controversies that appeared to be attempts to distract the public from more serious problems were in fact attempts by his own staff to distract their boss from ham-fistedly messing up delicate situations. Better for him to yell about football players than threaten nuclear war again.

I don't know if he will win or not. Since Trump managed it, I assume a Pence win is well within the realm of possibility. I would of course prefer Trump/Pence serve no more than one term.

Pence doesn't have the same appeal to aging white male losers in flyover country that Trump does. The ostensibly religious types who vote for Trump may actually like Pence; but that's not going to get the folks who are sacrificing their children in order to see the President piss off the people they hate for them. You really need both groups to get the Trump minority; without all of them even the crimes of the GOP and the espionage of their Russian (ahem) co-belligerents isn't enough to steal the White House.
Oddly enough, it still feels a bit odd to discuss the overt toleration (bordering on collaboration) of the GOP for the Russian Government's efforts to sabotage the American electoral system and political process. I guess it's just been a strange half century around here.

I put the odds of Congress fixing DACA at about 15% at this point. After a bunch of directionless farting around, everyone is now too busy freaking out over Trump's "****hole" comment to get things done. It looks like the GOP immigration hawks talked Trump out of backing the compromise that a bunch of senators had come up with, and now, who knows?

With all the discussion on how racist Trumps poop comment actually is, i find it odd that nobody gives the Trump the obvious answer, why there is not more immigration from Norway.
Norwegians have little incentive to move to a poop, where healthcare is crappy and where you have to be extra carefull around police officers, because otherwise you might get shot.

Trump has been cropping up a fair amount lately in Madam And Eve cartoons. (It's mostly 'political satire' in the same sense as Dilbert is 'workplace satire').

So, the ****hole comment has swerved the US into yet another upcoming government shutdown.
You know the Captain Picard facepalm meme? I'm doing that now.
Meanwhile, Trump's approval rating has actually ticked slightly upwards since the infamous scatological comment. America!

So, yesterday Puerto Rico was told that emergency aid will cease immediately (no reason given). One of Trump's mouthpieces claimed there wasn't sufficient cause for him to approve Trump speaking to Mueller. Trump refused to obey the law imposing sanctions on Russia while the head of the CIA noted that both Russia and China will be interfering in the 2018 elections. Oh, and Trump gave a mediocre 'red meat for the base' type speech to a bunch of trained monkeys in Republican Congresscritter suits; apparently the monkeys clapped often enough for it to become a talking point.
Note on the last: Senator Collins sat quietly through the whole affair. Trump's numbers in Maine must really suck.

The Republican Congresscritters are pleased that Trump is so easy to manipulate into bog standard pro-corporate Republican positions. Everything unorthodox he ever said on the campaign trail has been quietly forgotten. Ideological poop-stirrer Steve Bannon has been dispatched. Trump's penchant for blurting out offensive things and their own incompetence notwithstanding, the Republicans are getting what they want. Collins notwithstanding, there aren't going to be enough Republicans to turn on Trump if Mueller comes up with solid proof of crimes. And there's a chance that the Supreme Court will uphold partisan gerrymandering nationwide, bringing an end to all the lawsuits that have been throwing out nakedly partisan maps.

They could. It would be very dangerous, but they could. I think the closest they might come is to say it's clearly unconstitutional but we still don't have an adequate test; and thus bounce cases back to state courts.
And on the subject of dangerous: when will the various intelligence agencies of the United States next tell a congressional or presidential authority figure of the Republican persuasion a word they don't care to see leaked? And how the heck will we have any kind of control over those folks under those circumstances? This bodes.

Devin Nunes is a nasty little man who needs to shove several large, durian-shaped objects where the sun does not shine. I don't doubt that this skulduggery originates in the White House, but Nunes is a tool just the same. I heard this morning he might have a whole string of memos waiting to smear every department of the Government
We're now fully in Trump upside-down land in which Russia is a great ally and the FBI is a hotbed of leftist conspirators. That's the trouble with promises to "drain the swamp", the demagogue can call anyone an enemy and the peanut gallery will cheer, they don't care whose head rolls as long as it's entertaining. I would not be surprised if Rosenstein were fired by the end of the month, and it's a short month.
As for the intelligence agencies, I'm pretty sure they've been in damage control mode since Trump accidentally outed the Israelis to the Russians. If there wasn't a deep state before, we're probably going to get one now.

So, Mueller has indicted 13 Russians...
And in other news, apparently Trump's lawyer accidentally invalidated their nondisclosure agreement with the porn star he was diddling while Melania was delivering his child...

It might have also been done to provide Rosenstein with some political cover so that Trump will look even worse by firing him. There's so many scandals I'm losing track. - A second adult model who Trump's lackeys paid off has surfaced. - Mueller has slapped Manafort and Gates with new fraud and money laundering charges. Guess Gates isn't cooperating after all. - Trump using a friggin school shooting to rile up the base by banging on about arming teachers, thereby wasting everyone's time by sucking their attention into debating the looniest possible idea instead of anything practical. I'm really impressed with these kids, especially how they deflated the "let's not politicize a tragedy" routine by marching right up and demanding a political solution. But with this congress? And this president? Sigh.
